On Tre White-

He’s obviously very talented- a guard that gets 6 rebounds a game doesn’t lack effort
I've seen him mentioned as a guard several times and that is one thing I don't see. I see him mostly as a 4, and don't see him playing the 3 much unless he can improve as a passer (I like a lot of his skills, but consider me doubtful about that one...). Tre strikes me as someone coming to occupy a QG type role. I think he's got quite a bit more upside on QG, but TBD on his maturity and locker room fit (felt QG was huge in that regard).

I have to say I really like this strategy that BU and Co. are implementing. Get guys who are going to be here for at least two years so they can build chemistry for year two, get Fletched, and play how BU wants them to play. Sprinkle in some guys we recruited who've had time to develop and learn the system also. Could be huge versus the portal mercenary route most teams are going for. My only concern is a lack of a true BIG man. Maybe it's just reactionary due to the teams dominating this year both having massive center types, but it also seems that was our kryptonite and I'm curious how we counteract that when it comes time to play those type of teams again. When we had Kofi it masked so many problems for us.

That said, if what transpires is what Indy and others are alluding to I could easily see us being another Top 15-25 team this coming year and then if we can keep continuity being a Top 5-10 team and really making another run the following year.
At least there is no Edey to guard! Amani showed he could hold his own defensively at times (Guarding Freeman) and will have a half-season under his belt. Combine that with platooning Rez and Booth, they should be alright...I hope

I'll need to go look at some video of Booth because I thought I saw him listed at 6' 10" and only 205 lbs. Yikes!

EDIT:
Ok - I looked at video. He's got skill / athleticism and a little bit of dawg in him. He's only 18 and with maturity and good strength coach (I hear we have one), he could go full dawg. Keep working on that 3-stroke and he could be dangerously versatile. I'm a believer.
Maybe could be a Jaren Jackson comp if he can put on some weight.

Y'know one interesting thing is that in terms of the original HS recruiting rankings of our roster, last year's team was relatively unimpressive.

If we add White, Morez and Boswell (while retaining Rodgers and expanding the role of Hansberry) that is going to change in a BIG way.

That only matters so much, but just a nugget to note.

Wait, I thought we were in front? How did we fall back?
Please say that you're being sarcastic? There are only so many "updates" that they can give.

If he stays in the draft, they'll be checking him out on TV like the rest of us.

If there's moving and shaking with coaching staffs...who knows?

They think that we're currently in good shape.

Insiders....does this encapsulate where we're at?

Think a longer, more physically imposing Coleman Hawkins who is still only 18.

Big guy with perimeter skills and 3 point range who can rebound and guard up and down the lineup. Hawkins is a better passer, but I definitely see NBA potential in Booth.

College fans underrate date of birth as something NBA scouts are looking at.
I don't see Booth as a comp to Hawkins - I think Booth is exactly what QG was to the team this year. He's a stretch 4 who will stand in the corner and take threes (he took 3.6 3's a game in 20 min) and then mix in the pump fake and drive/dunk. He has a lot more upside than QG given he's was a freshman last year, but that is his direct comp next year I think. I can see why the staff wants him in that role, I think he can be first half of the season QG.

Could be. Booth is a bit longer than QG and would be more valuable to us (and the NBA) if he can be a stretch 5, but a QG-type role is possible too.

It's wild that Booth is more than SIX years younger than QG. Kurt Kittner had one career TD pass when QG was born, Ron Zook was the coach when Booth was born. They both played college basketball this year.

Another amazing QG stat: in his last four years of college, his 3PT% went up and his FT% went down every year.

Sounds great! Does he look like he can hang with bigger centers defensively if we play him at the 5 spot?

Last point is spot on as well re: Boswell (he's still 18 and gonna be a junior next year!)
He is skinny but I think he's maybe a bit longer than Coleman and more vertically explosive. So while I think he would get bullied and backed down by more physical interior players he will be able to do a better job contesting those shots and providing rim protection on drives than Coleman did.

Sidenote: with Edey and Clingan gone I don't think any player in college will be nearly as physically imposing.

Question for the insiders, say storr gets some better than expected feedback from nba scouts and keeps his name in the draft(I understand that’s not expected but crazier things have happened). I’m assuming the back up plan is oweh? In that case my concern is that he commits elsewhere in the meantime, are there more guys we could see enter the portal that could be a backup plan?
