Huh? Quincy 6'8, Tre 6'7; Domask 6'6, Jake 6'6"Coleman 6'10, Rez 6'9; Dain 6'9, Booth 6'10; Shannon 6'6, Maddox 6'2 (but with a 6'8 wingspan; Harmon 6'4, Boswell 6'2. Small differences except for Shannon. Tre has a midrange game and is a candidate for booty ball, although I don't expect the exceptional footwork and patience that Domask possessed.

TSJ had a 21% TO rate his last year at Texas Tech. He had a 106.8 ORating at KenPom. AJ Storr's was 106.4 last year.

Advanced stats can tell a lot of stories, but there was essentially no way to predict that TSJ would reach the level he did this past season.

Agree, Maddox has the best metrics of the three, so I have no issues there. If Boswell can regain his freshman shooting %s, that'd be great. He took (and missed) a lot more 2pt shots this year and didn't get to the line more despite higher usage, so hopefully it's just a scheme issue.

If we're looking at the best of the last two years before transferring, TSJ's ORtg (sports-reference) was 115 vs 109 for Storr and 112 for Boswell. TSJ's DRtg was 94 vs 107 for Storr and 100 for Boswell (lower is better). Boswell was a bit closer to pre-Illinois TSJ in ORtg/DRtg than he was in win shares/40.

I think the most realistic favorable scenario is that we're deeper offensively and better defensively. If several guys are about where Domask/Hawkins were this year in WS/40, then several others that are better than our other starters/role players, we'll be in pretty good shape. Maybe not top 10 without a big surprise from someone, but at least top 20.

And Hansberry had pretty good WS/40 and ORtg/DRtg, so that's another reason for hope.

I'm not saying they can't/won't be good. It's just that the proposition is different. With TSJ, we were counting on him maintaining his efficiency with higher usage. With Domask, we were counting on him maintaining his efficiency with tougher competition. Neither of those things were guaranteed, and the coaches deserve credit for that.

With Storr/Boswell/Maddox, we're counting on them being much more efficient (and, in Maddox's case, even with tougher competition), and I personally think that's more risky. In Storr's case, that's with presumably less usage, and he's very highly regarded, so there's of course reason to hope.

Domask actually got less efficient from his last year at SIU. He stepped up in level, so that accounts for it. I think expecting a similar outcome for Maddox is reasonable.

I actually think the bolded is harder to accomplish than what we'd be asking Boswell and Storr to do (increase efficiency but maintain their usage). But I have no support to back up that opinion.

I will really watch the shooting if he gets here though, because if he shoots well he'll be a huge asset regardless and he'll only be a Sophmore so undoubtedly there is room to grow.

Jake Davis is the one people will undervalue. That kid can shooooot it. And its not set shots like Goode, he can get it off when and wherever.

I'm aiming higher then Booth if its me, but the staff has been so good at eyeing talent that I think you have to trust their evaluation. I would love more size just as an option. Morez will be a 6'9 Freshman and Amani is only 6'8. Getting a kid in here who is 6'10+ at 230 + who can defend the rim and rebound, just to mix in would help a ton with defending bigger teams.

Boswell has played 2 years at AZ. Steady improvement on top 10 team. Something to be said for having him here for his JR and SR year.

Was the ruling against the NCAA that allowed transfers without sitting out a year just a temporary injunction or was it a permanent ruling.

I was just wondering if there is still a possibility of that changing.

NCAA has surrendered. Latest proposal allows unlimited transfers without sitting out. Courts have removed all NCAA power. Something will have to come from Fed government which frankly has more important things to deal with.

I think our must have recruit in this transfer cycle is Boswell. Just looking at his tape, he looks at his best like a future pro, and at worst a really good college player like McCamey. If we don’t get Storr, we can still find other guys to shoot. But Boswell is that elite PG we haven’t had in forever. Sure, no more iso Booty ball but I think running offense thru him we can still be very good offensively

I know, it would be so GREAT if all Illini fans were above average in intelligence, every last one of us a basketball savant that our thankful coaching staff might at any time night or day consult, and of course are each and every last stinkin' one of us handsome and kind. :)

Or maybe it's enough that we all care as much as we do. I mean that.
