Why is it hilarious? He played PG. if you're arguing he wasn't our PG, then who was our PG?

Can we also please end this debate after we figure out if Domask was our PG or not?
We had multiple point gaurds by proxy with Domask ultimately being the best for the job. The Ty experiment at point gaurd was a bust. Fortunately Brad came up with a workaround that was able to take the offense to an all time top level. It was a perfect storm of things coming together that made it work otherwise we could have had a very average season. I wouldn't expect that to happen again. There is a good reason why people on here are concerned about getting a top point gaurd to run our offense this year. It was also a big concern last year till it wasn't.

The staff deserves confidence that Tre White is going to be developed into the star he had the talent to be in HS, but the staff also deserves confidence that they are cooking and Denzel-ing so elite-ly that Tre White is going to be the 7th man.

It gets tiresome, guys.
Holy strawman!

No single insider has said that Tre White is going to be the star here. If anything they've been tempering expectations and saying not to expect him to be anything more than a bench contributor because of the other pieces expected to join but that Brad thinks he can get more out of him than he showed at Louisville (not mutually exclusive).

Would really be a shame if incessant doomers ended up chasing our insiders off. Don't think it'll happen but then this board would just be filled with constant dooming *plus* no insider insights. Now that would be tiresome indeed.

You keep complaining about people talking about PGs and then make me continue talking about PGs.

-Brad said at B10 media days we didnt need a PG.
-He tried Ty out at the PG, but teams took advantage.
-Domask brought up the ball, but we didn't have a PG.
-Coleman did that the year before, was he our PG in 22?

How about we just agree to disagree or something? The P&G letters are starting to break on my keyboard.

Go Illini.

Haha! I'm not making you talk about anything. Nobody is holding a gun to your head making you churn out horrific takes.

- Agreed, but doesn't counter any point I have made
- Agreed, but doesn't counter any point I have made
- A bit of semantics here, but Domask was defacto PG, he did the job of a PG (and he did it as well as anyone in the country)
- Agreed, because someone brings the ball up once a game, doesn't make them a PG (pretty sure Skyy/Epps did that 95% of the time)

Yes, agree to disagree, that sounds great. I have tried to end this conversation many times. Are you able let it go?

PG wasn’t the issue last year we had capable ball handlers not in the traditional sense you are right

Our biggest issue was the 5. Hawkins would have been better if we had a 5 other than DD who at times was good

In current recruiting news our insiders are hinting on who we are getting at every position except the 5.

Recruiting is fluid but I trust BU. All the experts thought our roster last year wouldn’t create offense

Come on man. A seasoned ball handler to bring it up the court not just Domask.

-4 turnovers in the last 4 minutes of MSU.
-A turnover to get them back in the game and to end it at PSU.

Cut those out & that alone gets us a share of the B10 title.

Also, enough with the post policing. It's an Illinois message board in the offseason. Of course I'm ecstatic about the season, but what do you want me to do, ask Indy for the 98th time if Storr is coming?
Honestly, if Brad just took Goode off the court and put in Ty against MSU I think they win that game.

The PSU game was a disaster but all Hawkins had to do to ice the game was hit 2 free throws or not foul a 3pt shooter.

so true

but is that any worse fate than all the "regular" students paying $140,000 or more for a diploma in some of these disciplines where the prospects of getting any kind of job using that degree are about 1 in 100 ?

traditional colleges and universities need to radically reconsider what they are trying to "sell" to all the students who are not in STEM .
Its a discussion for another day
Well said Tibbs

While I think it’s fair to say we would’ve been better off with a true PG late in some games, I must nitpick and say that those 2 games alone would not have gotten us a share of the B1G title because Purdue won the league by 3 games because they were so good and had a generational monster on their team. (Which is the real reason they won the league IMO; not because we didn’t have a true PG)

I don’t see losing TSJ, Domask, Hawkins, Guerrier and replacing them with Boswell, Maddox, Morez, and White as very comparable.

If you don’t land Storr, this team is nowhere near last year’s #6 AP team. I think it should still be a fringe tourney team depending on how good Boswell is tho even without Storr
Is this April 10, 2023, 2024. I recall many of these same comments about an Elite 8 team that hadn't played one game together yet. The 2023 -2024 teams was maybe going to be BU's last at Illinois because his seat was so hot and didn't have a point guard.

Damnit, I can't add. I think I originally had that 1st MD game in the mix, but that was more our defense making Jahmir Young look like Allen Iverson.
