Yikes!Arizona C to Indiana
Edit: Wait. You are talking about Ballo, correct? Speculation only? I don't see any announcements yet. L

He’s taking a visit. Didn’t commit yet.Yikes!
I don't think Booth can play center IMHO - he's purely a stretch 4. I do think we have a lot of flexibility in what lineups we put out there which I know Brad likesok, I think early lineups are flippin' silly. that said, this has me juiced:
Boswell
Maddox
Storr
Morez
Booth
with a dynamite, deep bench, to boot
A concept that has existed on 100% of college basketball message boards and 0% of college basketball teams since time immemorial. We would go 11 deep
Woodson is just never going to learn. Fine by me!
Seriously, guys. Just because we have posters who have some inside information doesn't mean they know who will start on a team that hasn't been fully formed yet. I think, like the rest of us, they're just expressing their opinions. They can't possibly know for sure. Heck, I'm sure BU couldn't even tell you at this point. I'm sure he has a pretty good idea but couldn't say definitively. It's all going to depend on how they perform in practice. And of course, who actually transfers to us.Gah just toying with us
Ok, for your predicted starters at the 4 and 5, blink once if only one of these players is already committed or on the roster, blink twice if BOTH of your predicted 4 and 5 starters are committed or on the roster, and blink 3 times if none of them are yet
So true. Every damn year lolA concept that has existed on 100% of college basketball message boards and 0% of college basketball teams since time immemorial.
The same fantasies pop up every year on Illini message boards.A concept that has existed on 100% of college basketball message boards and 0% of college basketball teams since time immemorial.
the point being we have 11 guys that are ready to play (Rez being the only one that hasn't started/played a significant minutes in college already and I think we all think he'll be ready as a freshman) - obviously only 8/9 will get regular minutes every game.A concept that has existed on 100% of college basketball message boards and 0% of college basketball teams since time immemorial.
And it's understandable. There really are 11 guys who might play, who it would be unreasonable to eliminate the possibility of playing. So true. Every damn year lol
A 'dead period' occurs when those that frequent sports message boards leave saying "kill me now."What does dead period even mean? Didn't we get a commit from tre white during said "dead period"?
Ok, sorry, I thought this was generally implied and commonly understood, but I guess I should make it clear that I know that nobody KNOWS what's going to happen. This is pure speculation. When I asked 0440 for more about the starting 4/5, I was asking for speculation. He (or any other insider) doesn't owe any of us any, but I was asking anyway since his speculation might be based slightly more on actual information than others would be. I find the speculation on potential recruits, transfers and starting lineups entertaining while we wait for actual news. I guess I kind of thought it was the point of this board, since otherwise it would solely be insider posts and twitter post links. Maybe I should put a disclaimer in my signature or somethingSeriously, guys. But it will shake out to 9 or less because that's how basketball works.
It's really tough to maintain 13 scholarship players without a couple unhappy guys looking for the exit door now, that's not an Illinois-specific problem.
Both of you just stop. If you want to continue this take it to Illini Inquirer where this is common, and which is why I never look at it anymore. So are you justifying simply losing all control of yourself because you are frustrated that you are losing an argument? You are continuing with it, too. Calling my responses 'pedantic'... which...

Just like I cannot say our losses were definitively NOT because of turnovers, you cannot say our losses definitively WERE because of turnovers.
I'm cool to end the debate, but my position is still that Domask ended up being a good PG for us. Lot of evidence he was, not very much that he wasn't. Someone else at one point wanted to throw raw turnover numbers at me, like he didn't play 10 more games than the guys he compared him to. He had one of the lowest turnover rates in the country for a lead guard & guy with the ball in his hands every single possession.
I agree that it shouldn't have worked, but did. And that also is one of the larger points I'm trying to make here: this staff continues to make things work when they otherwise shouldn't. I know there are complaints about in-game rigidity, but the player development and ability to adapt over the course of a season has been (imo), to use BU's favorite word, elite.
they really want him. as long as he makes it out of Louisville and to Illinois I really like our chances
I love Amani, but his foul fest in the space of a couple minutes during our second Purdue game had me concerned about over-relying on him next year. I think he'll be a great college player eventually, but he strikes me as one that might limit his own playing time simply by fouling. Will Morez and Amani be ok with possibly not starting and playing 15-25 minutes per game? IMO, those are two guys you want to keep happy. Especially because Amani is an every day guy, has a great family, great head on his shoulders, is tough, always play his hardest, and is someone that will develop into a very good big ten player.
Just my two cents, but Amani is one of the few types of guys you just don't even try to recruit over.

It almost seemed like that was more of a game plan asking him to be extra physical and if he fouls oh well. Against other posts he played physical but without as much fouling (Iowa against Freeman)I love Amani, but his foul fest in the space of a couple minutes during our second Purdue game had me concerned about over-relying on him next year. Yup. Every fan base does this pre-season and it almost never actually happens. The vast majority of coaches use a 8-9 man rotation early in the season cutting down to a 6-7 rotation by tournament time.A concept that has existed on 100% of college basketball message boards and 0% of college basketball teams since time immemorial.
I mean, yes, hard to draw many conclusions from a guy that averaged 4.8 min/game in the conference. But he averaged 1.6 fouls in those 4.8 min. Not exactly encouraging if you're thinking about not targeting a certain player in the hopes of relying on him to play a big minute role every night.sample size, sample size, sample size
