I mean, yes, hard to draw many conclusions from a guy that averaged 4.8 min/game in the conference. But he averaged 1.6 fouls in those 4.8 min. Not exactly encouraging if you're thinking about not targeting a certain player in the hopes of relying on him to play a big minute role every night.
agreed. It's certainly possible that with more experience, Amani doesn't have major issues with fouls this year, but I'd hate to be in a position where it turns out it IS still a problem and now it's too late to do anything with the roster to address it. I think there's a decent chance Amani makes a significant jump this year and is a major contributer, but I'm not confident in that to the point that I wouldn't appreciate a little more depth and experience in the front court. That's my main concern with the speculated rosters that have been tossed around with Booth as a potential transfer big. (And I really like Booth, but he doesn't help with the experience concern)

Freshman bigs foul. Next year Amani won't be a freshman big any more, and Morez one of his chief competitors will be.

I'm glad you caught it. The local barista...ugh. Everyday, I order an espresso, and she literally writes expresso on the damned cup.
oh no...that is terrible, lol. It is one of my pet peeves: expresso and expecially. Especially expecially...

We lost out on a B10 title due to missing a veteran PG down the stretch of 4 close games. I don't know how you don't talk about that.
I didn't want to get into this argument either but this is the post stuck with me. Of course you can say that not having a veteran PG may have cost us 3-4 hand picked close losses but you can't also assume everything else plays out the same. It's more likely than not that PG X has a bad game here or an off shooting night there and we lose other games that we won. And that's not even taking into account culture impact or defined roles. There's no way of knowing if Domask booty ball is as pronounced during the second half of season if we have a primary ball handler running the show.

The overestimate on the depth of our roster by this board is extreme. Players are not transferring here to not play nor are players staying here to not play.

I’ll assume 10 players who expect at least some playing time. Any transfer over 2 more will either be a 1 in 1 out scenario or a transfer who isn’t in the rotation (project). For example, if we get Boswell and Storr then any transfer after than would cause a transfer out.

TRANSFER 1
TRANSFER 2
DGL
Harris
White
Goode
Davis

I would be surprised if we don't get a traditional big man. Personally feel as though with the most recent roster projections, our big guys would get pushed around a bit. Just my opinion.
George Montgomery, Jarod Gee, Robert Archibald, Marcus Griffin, Shaun Pruitt, Kofi - old school defense and rebounding

Forgot how rough this was…poor bloke. Bet he was dying for a commercial break those whole 3 minutes.

the point being we have 11 guys that are ready to play (Rez being the only one that hasn't started/played a significant minutes in college already and I think we all think he'll be ready as a freshman) - obviously only 8/9 will get regular minutes every game.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but we absolutely don't HAVE them.. I would bet good money we don't get all of Storr, Maddux, and Booth.

Anyone think there's a chance Davis redshirts his sophomore year like Harris did?

I love Amani, but his foul fest in the space of a couple minutes during our second Purdue game had me concerned about over-relying on him next year. I think he'll be a great college player eventually, but he strikes me as one that might limit his own playing time simply by fouling.
We wanted him to foul. We wanted Purdue in the bonus, so that if we needed to turn it into a FT shooting contest in the last 30 seconds, we could. We didn't want our regulars to pick up fouls for that purpose. It was Amani's job. At least that's what Brad said post-game... (around 11:30 in his post-game presser)

I still remain a bit skeptical of Boswell, but am more then happy (and expect to be) proven wrong. I just don't see anything that really pops with him. Decent defender, shooter and ball handler, but I don't see elite athleticism, first step or explosion.

I will really watch the shooting if he gets here though, because if he shoots well he'll be a huge asset regardless and he'll only be a Sophmore so undoubtedly there is room to grow.

Jake Davis is the one people will undervalue. That kid can shooooot it. And its not set shots like Goode, he can get it off when and wherever.

I'm aiming higher then Booth if its me, but the staff has been so good at eyeing talent that I think you have to trust their evaluation. I would love more size just as an option. Morez will be a 6'9 Freshman and Amani is only 6'8. Getting a kid in here who is 6'10+ at 230 + who can defend the rim and rebound, just to mix in would help a ton with defending bigger teams.
agree on Boswell, athleticism to break down defender, create and score at basket are the only things that give me a concern. We need someone that can create in the half court. That being said he is a big upgrade at primary ballhandler that we have had for some time.

That's what happens to freshmen bigs in the B10 before they put on the extra 15-20lbs of muscle their first offseason and start learning better footwork and how to defend and challenge opponents just as big or bigger than them. Happens every single year to pretty much every single B10 freshman big, especially when they go up against juniors and seniors. As for judging Amani based on how he played Edey when Underwood said he told Amani to go out there and be extremely physical with him. I mean, even if you take the Brad gameplan out of it, you have a freshman going up against a generational two-time player of the year upperclassman. What are you expecting? Kofi struggled with Sophomore Edey. Senior Edey>>>>>>>Sophomore Edey. Thinking a freshman Amani is going to do anything but lose that 1 on 1 matchup badly is just not reasonable and would mean Amani is probably a guaranteed lottery pick.

Ok, sorry, I thought this was generally implied and commonly understood, but I guess I should make it clear that I know that nobody KNOWS what's going to happen. This is pure speculation. When I asked 0440 for more about the starting 4/5, I was asking for speculation. He (or any other insider) doesn't owe any of us any, but I was asking anyway since his speculation might be based slightly more on actual information than others would be. I find the speculation on potential recruits, transfers and starting lineups entertaining while we wait for actual news. I guess I kind of thought it was the point of this board, since otherwise it would solely be insider posts and twitter post links. Maybe I should put a disclaimer in my signature or something
Not directed at you. I actually think you are one of the more thoughtful posters on the board. Meant no disrespect.
