zero to do with this site (sorry, Dan)...

247sports.com: getting a blank window for every URL while logged in, happens in Safari and Firefox. reboot didn't help. are others experiencing this? if not logged in, page displays (course, all the content is behind paywall). all ideas welcome

A couple thoughts…

Brad and co plz find someone like Samson Johnson for our dunkers spot, and rim protection.

I think Tyler Underwood might be the Illini head coach in 15-20 years

Brad is 60 now. Are you thinking he coaches until 75-80 or is there someone in between
Lou retired/left as the Illini HC in 1997, at age 65. I was at the game when he announced he was retiring. In hindsight, he probably did not want to leave but did it for recruiting and the program. He immediately went back to New Mexico State as their HC and coached there from 1997 - 2005. It will be interesting to see how long BU stays before leaving. Tyler is right by his side on the bench and is constantly in his ear. I'm sure he has a great coaching pedigree and the personality to recruit. Hopefully he will be as adept in navigating the portal as his father if he ever steps up to the big chair.

I’m oddly serene about portal season. We’ve got a great sell: winning program, top 3 conference, track record of transfer success, immediate playing time and, at a minimum, competitive NIL. I’m sure we will get outbid and may lose a couple of our top targets but there are so many good players in the portal, we will get some good ones.

And at this point I think we’ve seen it’s a crapshoot who does/does not excel on their new team. It’s not always the sexiest names that make the biggest impact. All about role, roster fit, personality, culture, etc. I trust the staff to bring in guys who are the best fit for the program.

That said, let’s close on Booth, Boswell and Maddox this weekend. But lots of other good players in the portal at every position. We will be fine either way.

With the standard disclaimer that I think very highly of Tyler Underwood and his coaching ability, I'd still really like to see him "leave the nest" and progress/accomplish without being under his dad's wing before really looking at him as a future Illinois head coach. When you want to lead your own program, I think it's really important to get exposure to different ideas, perspectives, and philosophies. I also recognize that the whole nepotism perception would still be there.

I'd honestly say the same thing if I were Brad Underwood here. I'd want to tell my son, "Hey, you're doing a great job here. But if you really want to be in my shoes one day, you need to forge your own path and show everyone what I know is true about you and your ability."
