I find it very intriguing we haven't heard many names for the mystery transfer 5, but insiders have confirmed we will be getting one. Makes me think we are trying to keep things under wraps because....
A) It's a lower profile guy that we don't want others teams gaining interest in. A "diamond in the rough", if you will.
B) Targeting someone not in the portal.
C) Waiting to see what Storr does. If he doesn't come here maybe we use that money to throw a bag at a high profile 5 man?

If i was making six figures a year in college. I would do as little as possible. only what was necessary to earn the degree.

Also, new Loyalty spinzone for any time we miss out on a HS recruit. "Finishing in second for a kid is actually a good thing, cuz he was gonna leave after a year or two anyways and we werent gonna reap the benefits of his development--let's let him develop elsewhere and then be in pole position when he enters the portal as a starting/star caliber player."
Even without the portal players are recruited over. This isn’t new! Transfer portal is but Duke and Kentucky bring in top recruits all the time and either replace or play over others.

Am I? What point did I miss? The post I responded to implied that fans have trouble rooting for transfers into the program, and that's clearly not true.

The scenario of recruiting a roster sure has changed in the last 3-5 years , especially with the transfer portal becoming so vital to filling holes on your roster..........that's Captain Obvious , for sure..............But the $$$ being floated around is mindboggling , at least to me........Not saying they don't deserve it or they haven't earned it.........And with the number of years that the NCAA and sponsors kept all the profits and didn't share a penny , then I'm glad for the players to finally get a piece of the pie........same with the argument of likeness on video games that O'Bannon sued over......it was financial slavery with the only rewards was a scholly and all the perks associated with said scholly.........
It's not the era , as a fan , to get too emotionally attached to a player , as they might leave before you truly get to know them.......
I , like others who have posted before , like to be on a more stable foundational footing with regards to the Illini roster......it's now a musical chairs test to make sure we don't miss out on what we need or even want for our program.........It has been enjoyable to me to see the growth from frosh , all the way till seniors , to watch how much better or worse a player matures into......
This transfer portal is a good thing , but maybe it needs to be roped in a bit to help us fans not have a stroke over the goings on....One day Harris posts " I'm Back " and the next day enters the portal.......I know thats not the exact timeline but it sure feels like it sometimes.......
At the end of the day , all I want is to win big every year and finally get that Natty for Illini nation and all involved......The vertigo I have been having doesn't help either.........
As far as BU cooking , is anything done today.......I'm getting really hungry .........I really really am.......
