@Indy Illini Fan - if you have a sense for it, where are we on NIL $$ now, in aggregate

My guess would be something around:
1) 4 returnees <300K
2) 4 transfers in <$1M
3) 2 incoming freshman <$200K

So we’ve spent about $1.5M on 10 players so far and if public reports are correct we have about $3M of NIL pool- so about $1.5M NIL left to allocate for 3 spots?

It would seem we would have the bag to get one of the top scorers then - if it’s not Storr, then David Jones or Mahaney. Then we still have enough to get a solid C given the expensive ones are mostly gone

Am I close here?

I love the portal I hate the portal I love the portal I hate the portal that’s where Im at
I hope some of the youth we're bringing in means we're building a new era and it's not just a whole new team again every year on and on.

We bought Hawkins and TSJ out of the draft last year, we have the ability to turn the NIL hose toward our returning roster, it's just that some of our belief in our bench wasn't shared by BU and the remaining staff.

That said, a one-and-done Dante Maddox Jr. would compliment this roster very nicely indeed.

That assessment is both SOLID and SAD.

There needs to be some type of balance but with the amount of time, commitment and effort players make plus the University Mens basketball program and coaches bank a massive income. How players got a tiny fraction for years with the demand for their product, to me its about time they got a bigger piece of the pie like everyone else associated with Illini Mens hoops. Should there be limits? Sure there likely should be but the disproportion between the players and coaches for income and freedom of movement needed to be addressed. I'm sure it will continue to be.

Has the feel to be different than 23-24. I know Booth, Boswell, and Davis are potential multi-year guys. I think White is also a multi year guy. IMO 24-25 will be very talented but younger.

With 3 open spots - right now only Goode is done at the end of the next year.
