Lot of conflicting stuff on Maddox right now. We will see

Already have a good idea of where we would pivot for the combo guard spot if he goes elsewhere
We have a short list of names at the 5? Doesn’t seem to be much movement there which is surprising to me.

You gotta ignore the rankings and look at the programs recruiting him. He's clearly going up a level and people are selling him on a big role.
I mostly agree with this. Recruiting and transfer rankings are largely put together by a bunch of glorified bloggers whose careers are not on the line if they underrate or overrate a recruit. The coaches whose careers ride on evaluating talent are likely to have a better idea of the actual value a player brings.

That's not to say that a coach can't wildly overrate a player or find a player that has been overlooked by others and therefore doesn't have a strong offer list, but it's likely still a better indicator than 247 rankings.

does that random twitter guy who said he's going to Xavier an hour ago actually have a source or am I gullible

When I say proven results, that's after adjusting for level of competition.

Go look at Cam Spencer's stats prior to transferring, and his transfer rankings. He excelled against B1G opponents and was ranked pretty low. I'd much rather have someone like that than some highly ranked guy with lots of potential who hasn't proven anything yet.
I mean sure. There are also black swans. It's disingenuous to say there is no correlation between swans and the color white.

So you believe that the staff have seen something that the national guys haven't. Fair enough. I trust the staff enough to give them the benefit of doubt.

I don't think we need to pursue Storr either way ...

They have our final offer ... Take it or leave it ... Or wait and watch us give it to someone else ...

Because there is no correlation between the two, got it.

People that make the rankings throw darts at a dart board.

If proven results was the end all be all we could save a ton of NIL by focusing all our efforts on D3 studs.
A lot of these rankings tend to factor in a guy's NBA potential, as well as years left to play. Maddox is too small to be a big time NBA prospect and will be a 5th year player.
Nevertheless, it's not hard to see what Brad and Co. like about him. The dude has played a lot of college basketball, has the ability to make tough shots in traffic, knock down open threes, and make his free throws at an elite rate. He has won everywhere he has played.

No ... But frankly, I am a little disappointed we are not even pursuing Conwell ... I think the kid is an absolute bucket and difference maker ...
Thanks. Yeah, I agree. Conwell is money. He's got a really nice looking shot. Hopefully Jake ends up being our Conwell... perhaps that's where staffs' heads are?

We need Storr badly. But even with him, this transfer portal puts us in position to recognize honestly that we are rebuilding, not reloading.
Wrong. This is the opposite from what we have been being told and seeing. If we get maddox, solid wing and a 5 we going to be good.

Its going to be more of a balanced attack than last year. Look at Uconn, they didnt just have one dude going off, it was a whole team effort.

A small part of me is in this camp too. We have a really, really good player with Boswell, but then a lot of role players and/or pieces that still need to be developed. The amount of production out of those guys is always a wait and find out approach. I'd put Maddox in that category as well. We seem to be chasing a guy that we won't really be sure of what we're getting(if gotten)

If we don't get at least two PROVEN scorers at the high D1 level....this sure feels like a low floor/solid ceiling group.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we're going to see some high profile guys coming our way.
