Interesting it came from Chester. I'm assuming that was a jab. Chet can recruit his "diamonds in the rough", team guys with very limited talent. Luckily we have a body of evidence of more than a decade about how that turns out.

These are the types of kids we landed for over a decade under Weber/Groce.
Also a bit disingenuous considering Epps was a Chester guy. Crazy entourage and quit in the middle of a game.

That's awesome except college basketball teams don't win with a how many top freshman you have.
They win with talent, and that is a lot of talent. Duke and Kentucky have consistently won with highly talented young players for a long time

Is Boogie worth $600k more than Claude ???

I don’t think so … 🤷🏻‍♂️
Doing the math and the comment about Boogie wanting what Roach just got, it sounds like his camp is asking for ~$1M, while I think that is high for any freshman given they are unproven and coaches can get veterans that will affect winning just as much as the most talented freshman - I do hope we spend on one big time player - Boogie would be that at a position of need. Who knows how quickly he'll adjust to the college game, but he's a really good shooter, ball handler, penetrator and distributor and would pair very well with Kylan

All the other names we've talked about lately shouldn't be expensive names. If we're saving dollars for Jones and he never enters the portal or goes pro - then we are left out in the cold again.

I will say I'd much rather have Boogie than an average SG, average big and average wing. We already have serviceable players with experience that we know can play. We have money to spend - let's bring the big time players!

Exactly. We need to land at least one stud. Be it a blue chip recruit or transfer. If we have the money, which it appears we do, spend it!

The staff wants to play big having Boogie as your 2 would not fly in the Big10 kids 170 pounds max and if you look at his build Fletch could maybeee put on 20 pounds

How do you feel about that? Definitely played well his last several games and was big in the tourney. The suspensions and the horrendous free throw shooting are a concern.

The suspensions are overblown … He was late to a practice once and that got him suspended … He got into with a teammate and the teammate instigated but it’s always the guy who retaliates that gets caught … No off court issues …

Do I think he could be serviceable ? Yes … And the price will be right …

I don't know if Fland is the best piece to put next to Boswell. We got our high-profile PG but would Fland be the best "pure scorer" to have with him? I think it is too soon to tell.

You win with talent, experience, above average to great guard play, and shooting. Duke right now only has one of those things.

Duke won with all of that and had a HOF coach. Kentucky hasn't won anything in over a decade.

That's good info...appreciate the response. Hoping we aim a little higher w/ the C position, but as you said, he would be serviceable.

Standing by. :) :)

Transfer portal and NIL has destroyed that strategy. As soon as player has success at low or mid major they transfer to P5 (highest bidder?). HS kids have to play significant role immediately or they transfer out to another P5. The days of slowly developing and finally contributing as starter senior year - Chris Gandy, Warren Carter, Robert Archibald are long gone. Chester better adapt to new world or he is going to be stuck working for mediocre curmedgeons. Epps - left for NIL$. Dain - left for bigger role and NIL$, Sencire left for bigger role. Amani - left because he felt he was being recruited over by Carey Booth. I liked all 4 players (maybe Jayden a little less) and hated to see them go.

The portal means everybody is free agent every year and teams are going to look to upgrade every year at every position. 4 year scholarship guarantees are oxymorons and should be eliminated. NCAA is a joke.

Incredibly good coach. Arguably best since Jay Wright or Billy Donavan. I was in shock by beat down Illini took in Boston. Brad was definitely outcoached. UConn had an answer for everything we did plus more talent. Brad learned a lot from Loyola and Houston tourney losses. He will learn from UCONN loss and come back even stronger.

I think we could have been 3rd best team in country after UCONN and Purdue. Just shows you have to win the "should win" games during regular season to lock up a #1 seed.

Hurley is ridiculously irritating to listen to. So arrogant. He also does those funny face expressions even in TV interviews. Hell of a coach. No way to predict he would be that good. Wagner and Rhode Island were pretty typical resume of most who who gets hired by P5.

MM's metrics were solid with us though. TS%, Pts/100poss, ORtg/DRtg, WS/40, and Usage% were all in line with his Baylor seasons. You could argue some were a bit lower, but he certainly wasn't a flop based on before/after stats. Whether the intangibles were a positive is an unknown to me.

Perhaps he was ranked too high, but I've already expressed my skepticism of transfer ranking websites.

Interesting it came from Chester. I'm assuming that was a jab. If he's implying that Brad whats the big names this makes more bullish about the direction of the program.

Why would you assume that's a jab? Chester retweets a lot of stuff.

It was almost exactly referring to what the supposed beef he had with the staff was.

Looks like a solid backup option...

Decision soon on whether or not to take Ben Humrichous from Evansville. There's some debate about it.

A lot of speculation on who Orlando Antigua will bring with him if he comes. Blown a bit out of proportion, IMO. It would open a couple of doors, though.
Uh, he's from Tipton, IN, and played at Tipton HS?

@sacraig, do the thing.
