Insiders haven’t confirmed why Chester left but it seems obvious that his players were recruited over and he did not like that especially since they are good people and players. BU seems to turn over the roster on a yearly basis to stay at the elite level.

Big difference in philosophy I could see why he left

Correct me if I am totally incorrect

This is what I don't like about the way Underwood is recruiting, and I'm guessing Chester wasn't a fan either. He isn't filling holes. He's just bringing in players.

So it sounds like we will get Antigua. We know Antigua is very strong with Caribbean players and New York players (strange how so many guys from the Caribbean end up playing basketball in NYC), so let's say we land Koby Brea. What's the difference between Goode and Brea? They're redundant players, and bringing in Brea is what is likely to push Goode out.

Assuming that is what happens, I'm not sure I want that. We know what Goode can do. Through his Jr year, Brea shot 39.4% from 3 compared to Goode's 38.8%, only Goode was doing it in the Big Ten and Brea was doing it in a mid-major conference. Brea obviously exploded this past year, but will he be able to do that in the Big Ten? Let's just pretend that Goode goes to Indiana, we get Brea and they both shoot 42% from 3 next year. Is this a trade anyone wants to make?

This is where I say you better win. If you are going to run off every player I've grown to like, because you think someone else is better, you better win and win big.

There are not many data points in this transfer portal world to know for sure the best approach. Last year we brought in a bunch of guys and it didn't work, team chemistry was poor. This past year, we brought in a lot of guys and it did work. My fear though is that having a guy scoring 23 ppg covered a lot of flaws. I don't think we're going to get that again next year. So, year 3, again we're going to bring in a lot of players, and insane amount if you ask me. What will our results be? Guess we'll find out.
The difference is Goode is basically only a stand still spot up shooter. Can't really do anything else offensively or shoot off the dribble.

He does give good effort defensively but isn't very good and his lower half is weak which can lead to him getting bullied inside. He does do a pretty good job on the boards though on both ends.

I like Goode and would like to see him stick around for his senior year especially just to have him in the lockerroom but he's got a replaceable skill set and isn't nearly as dynamic offensively as Brea.

Brea has NBA range, can shoot off the dribble or off of screens and he is the best catch and shoot guy in the NCAA.

Is it? Is he going to shoot 50% when he steps up in competition? Both Domask and Harmon saw their 3pt% drop when they had to play top talent night in and night out. The kid can definitely shoot, but so can Goode. The 3 years prior to last year, Brea was, as I pointed out, a 39.4% shooter. Do we know if last year was an outlier? Damonte Williams had this wild 55% 3pt shooting season and went right back to normal the next year.

The whole point of my post was, Underwood is not saying, ok we lost this from the roster, we have this coming back so here is our recruiting approach. He's saying ok, let's see who I want. If taking that guy runs off one of my returning players, so be it. Thus, we will have close to 0 continuity. Fans will routinely see players they like leave and replaced by newcomers. If you're going to do that, those players you bring in better win or the natives will get restless.
Domask actually shot like 38% from 3 in the Big10 and NCAA tournament. He just had a horrible cold stretch against bad competition to start the season.

Harmon just forgot how to play basketball in February. Also, Damontes 50% season was on low volume(2 attempts a game) on wide open shots.

So I am not really even sure what college players who are still in the draft that would return to college that could be targets for us? Anyone care to throw out a name or two? It would be interesting who potentially could be “the guy(s)” we are maybe waiting on?

Just referring to Chester posting that particular clip, saying he's taking something with him...I dont think it's odd that two players would follow the coach who was their primary recruiter when it looks like they are being recruiter over or are not going to step into the minutes they thought they were going to.
Honestly I thought it was a hilarious tweet! Fits what I think I know about Coach Frazier. I can 100% guarantee you that a conversation was had between Underwood and Frazier when the move was talked about, the ramifications of it. I would not be surprised in the least if Underwood said, "I understand your connection to players x, y, z ..... you have my permission to discuss their basketball future with them, just keep me in the loop, no surprises!" It's actually very commonplace that when an assistant, or Head Coach moves on, his recruits are likely to follow..... Happens ALL THE TIME.

Sorry, but I get a faint taste of sour grapes. I object to bad mouthing former players who leave of their own free will. The coaching staff saw something in them that made it worth signing them instead of other available high schoolers.

It’s like degrading the girl you once adored after she decided she found someone better.
So....are you saying that there's something wrong with that?

Cam Christy, Brea and Bona is that too much lol - I had to try to figure out my own list. Bona is going to go high though right? I would really like Christy, Brea and I like Omouryi but we don’t seem to have any interest in him :(

Again, not suggesting anything about the players or the notion that recruits often follow the person that recruited them, nobody needs that explained to them, least of all in caps.
I am saying it seems a bit petty for a coach who has been asked to leave to post something that seems to imply he's not leaving without first inflicting some damage. I think almost everyone liked those two players, but there's a very real possibility that the void they are leaving either is not that much of a void, given their collective historical contributions, or will be filled by two players with the greater potential. As you mentioned, Underwood likely gave his permission for Chester to speak with those players about following him out the door...which makes it all the more silly to post a clip saying you're not leaving without taking something with you.
