So some teams are wishing they hadn't spent so much money on early transfers? How about Illinois? Tre White vs. Norchad Omier? Carey Booth vs. DaRon Holmes II? I'd like to think that getting Booth for potentially 3 years is better than paying Holmes a massive amount for 1 year. Similarly, Illinois has White, with a high ceiling, for potentially 2 years, whereas Norchad Omier would be a 1 year rental, and he basically plays a different position than White.

So, a similar rating to a guy who has a 21.5 PER (15 is considered average), and making 70% of his FG attempts, as a rookie? Yeah, why would they want him?

Sometimes I don't know what NBA scouts are thinking, especially when it comes to guys who can rebound. That skill almost always translates.
I agree that’s a first rounder for me.

It’s malpractice to take a guy like Zach Edey over him.

Besides NIL, which is obviously important, do we have any edge or link with Holmes

Which makes it a surprise they made a clear rule and applied it consistently in this case
Exactly. The ruling from the NCAA just consistently applies everything they set up to this point.

The shocker to me is that they dropped money on attorneys. I'm not sure how they thought that would change their case before the NCAA. I assumed it was just a prelim to a court challenge, which was really their only hope.

Some chance that was in the offing but that MD decided he'd just get on with life. Try to get some tryouts, G-League, and who knows.

Agree 1000%. Though selfishly as a fan, I loved seeing Dr. Domask go to work on the block/mid-range.

I feel like that skill is less commonly seen these days. Wouldn't mind we added another player with that in his bag!

I don't know of anyone who could do what he did.

I didn't really appreciate it until watching other games where guys tried to go off the backboard with a post shot. My mental model was for it to go in, and of course it usually wouldn't since it's a more difficult shot. That's when I realized how spoiled I was with Domask. He was dialed in with angles like no one else in college ball, and he had that fade-away he'd use sometimes. When he had a mismatch, he was incredibly efficient.

I remember it was said that Domask had his own potential donor so that Brad wouldn't have to worry about saving NIL Cap Space.

Just now it was mentioned that we have a little more NIL with OA on board.

Am I overanalyzing or did that donor find our the waiver was rejected and agreed to throw some of that allotment in to the NIL fund?

Indy (or others), how would you compare 6'4" North Florida guard Chaz Lanier with 6'5" Miami guard Wooga Poplar? Who's the better player? What, hypothetically, are their comparative costs (NIL money) to obtain? Would either slot in as starting shooting guard for Illinois next season? Lanier seems to be a better, more efficient shooter, albeit vs. lesser competition. I have no idea how good either player is on defense., or how they compare to each other in that regard.

It would be negligent for Whitman/Underwood not to make that pitch.

Does anyone know if Illinois ever reached out to 6'11 center Brandon Garrison or 6'3" guard Javon Small, both from Oklahoma State, and both in the transfer portal? And if so, was there no interest in Illinois from the players? Or were their NIL demands too expensive?
