It would be incredibly satisfying to see Daddy Brad slow play everything, giving teams like Indiana and Michigan hope that they will be better than us, but then we wind up with a loaded transfer class that puts us as undisputed B1G favorites.

Jones and Humrichous would be the perfect start. Then you just need a 5 and a good ball handling combo guard.

Is hum the Coleman replacement or is booth? Or both? Similar skillset it seems
I think "perimeter-oriented 5 playing most of the minutes" is a role we're doing our best not to replace.

Booth has a comparable skillset but was promised to not be a 5, apparently. Humrichous is a different sort of player and wouldn't be well suited as a 5, a stretch 4 next to a rim protecting center is probably the right fit there.

Indiana still has MIke Woodson, let them load up. It won't matter.

Are we eventually going to try to roll out a team of at least 3 Coleman adjacent players? That would be a formidable group. Talk about a guy reshaping a program!

Gotcha, didn't raise hum could play the 5 as well. Sometimes where they play on defense and offense don't always align

I think its a good 1-2 punch at the 4 spot

Ben H is a really good shooter who plays well in some pick n roll. Has a big body but not super athletic or bouncy. Seems to be able to run some offense through him, like coleman.

Booth likes to shoot but needs to get better % wise, he like to dribble drive off pump fakes to get dunks and layups. Very very athletic and bouncy but still raw. Think straight line drive, spot up shooter. With a huge upside.

(1) Illinois really needs a starting 2-guard. I really like 6'4' 199 lb guard Chaz Lanier of North Florida. He averaged 19.7/4.8/1.8 this past season. Lanier is a SHOOTER! 51.0% from the field, 44.0% on 3-pointers, and 88.0% on FTs. I know Illinois would have some tough competition in this recruitment, but I think Lanier would be well worth the effort and the NIL dollars. (2) Like I've said previously, I also think that 6'3" 195 lb combo guard Javon Small would be a great transfer addition to the Illini roster. He could definitely start at SG alongside true PG Kylan Boswell. And he could also play PG while Boswell is resting. Small averaged 15.1 (led Oklahoma St.)/4.7/4.1 this past season, with shooting percentages of 44.1/37.4/86.6, very good numbers across the board. Maybe Small is asking for too much money? I hope that Illinois has at least kicked the tires on this dude.

They have very complimentary skill sets. Anxious to see what our S&C All-Stars can do with these guys. I think they can both improve greatly this summer. Booth is still pretty raw and skinny but has a ton of athleticism. Ben has never had access to the type of coaching and facilities he will have at U of I.

Frankly, I think every guy we have brought in is going to look noticeably different next fall, in a very good way.
