Edit - I see you are all on top of this. It’s not our first rodeo (see Kofi)

I never for one second believed Hawkins was settling for a maybe 2nd round maybe not at all 2024 draft ticket and I do not for one second now believe he'll legitimately consider playing anywhere else next year.

This to me is a straight "squeeze every NIL dollar possible" play - as he should - while also building the hype that will result from his return when it's accompanied by a degree of uncertainty. No problem with any of it whatsoever, personally. But I fully, fully expect him back in Champaign. Excited for it.

Coleman isn’t looking to leave by entering the portal, it just allows him to get paid more IF he comes back to college. Everyone should chill, I highly doubt he plays for another team… he’s just smart.
Agreed. Also, if Coleman decides to come back to college I have a hard time seeing the logic in going elsewhere. Brad & Tyler undoubtedly improved his draft stock this year and going to an entirely new system with a new staff would be a massive gamble & mistake IMO

Having one of your players enter portal but say they might come back to Illinois as well is like having your girl friend saying she wants to date other people just to see if she can do better than you. You can do it but the trust will never be there even if you come back.

Maybe connecting invisible dots but the severe lack of interest in a 5 this cycle may indicate they’ve know Coleman was coming back?

Honestly - going to disagree here ... I think that the way we played didn't allow Coleman to show off his defensive versatility ... It showed his weakness more than it did his strengths ...

That frustrated him this season ... It wasn't a secret ...

Does even the potential return of Coleman Hawkins to the Illini affect the decision of Ben Humrichous regarding his Louisville vs. Illinois transfer destination? And neither Hawkins nor Humrichous really solves Illinois questions surrounding the center position, FWIW.

Pretty sure the entire team was shown to have major defensive weaknesses throughout most the season, so no surprise here at all that Coleman would be frustrated! His strengths could never come through.

So we must get a 5 so he can play the 4 and maximize his potential, if not he's got options

Agreed with this. Think getting a true 5 makes coming back way more appealing to him..

Do you stand strong in your previous opinion re Coleman and Illini or nothing when it comes to college?

I think that its definitely on the table that he comes back to college and it isn't Illinois ...

We do not have a 5 ... Until we do ... We aren't the best situation for him ... Just is what is ...

There are already teams circling on this one ... Blue bloods ...

Coleman is an elite defender ... That's arguably the skill the NBA is after the most ... He can switch onto guards ...
I completely agree. It was more tongue and cheek about how poor some of the defensive game plans were. Never doubted Coleman's abilities at all, but can see why his strengths did not show through and why he would be frustrated. Him diving on the floor in the tourney is a highlight I will always remember.
