Starting to feel like we don’t have the NIL $ we claim to have?
I mean everyone has been saying that. Our insiders, Steven Bardo, I think there was even some chat about it on Trilly's forum. So who knows?
I would think unlocking all the TSJ and Coleman NIL would be huge.

The last thing Coleman Hawkins wants is to return to college basketball, but if that's where the most guaranteed money is...

It's all agent driven, maximizing opportunities, which is what anyone would do in this current environment.
And if he does come back, we have to be the ones giving him the most money. Not doing so would be an unthinkably poor, fan-crushingly bad allocation of resources.

If Coleman Hawkins is playing for a different college program next year and we're picking over the crumbs of the portal, we should absolutely flip the F out.

Booth did not come here to play the 5 ...

Morez does not work with Coleman IMO ... If we want to play like we did last year ...

Morez would be in more of the Dainja role ...

All I am hearing Indy say today is that Hawkins is basically gone no matter what. We have brought on nothing but 4’s this off season ( out side of Boswell) We need a 5 and a 2. If Hawkins comes back we will have a lot of 4’s not playing and transferring out next year.

We have a lot more work to do for this roster. 4 spots min to fill

I don't think that we have the resources that we think that we do when compared to other quality programs.

I think that we do well, but the blue check players not previously associated with the school(TJ for example) are outside of the credit limit in the wallet.

Even if hawkins came back and went to a rival school...Indiana, Iowa, wisconsin, etc...I would wish him luck. Its a new day in college sports, players here today gone tomorrow.

Honestly - going to disagree here ... I think that the way we played didn't allow Coleman to show off his defensive versatility ... It showed his weakness more than it did his strengths ...

That frustrated him this season ... It wasn't a secret ...
I am not an expert, but I guess I thought he looked phenomenal on defense at times and was primarily limited by his knee injury, especially late. 🤷‍♂️

Too early to draw conclusions, but yes, that is the question.

A new order is being established in college sports, and for YEARS, from the very beginning, Josh Whitman has been setting up a machine to make us big players in that space, and as we are seeing on the football side, we are being bulldozed into an irrelevant afterthought minnow, reflecting the strength of our football fan community relative to our competition.

The promise of that was our basketball resources would ALSO be reflective of the strength of our fan community on the basketball side, which is for lack of a better word, elite.

Our staff has bet the farm on our power in the basketball NIL space. Orlando Antigua is putting his career in the hands of our power in the basketball NIL space.

The ammo is live, the torpedoes are in the water, it is happening right this moment.

Will our plans survive contact with the enemy? Stay tuned. But the stakes are existential here, there's no downplaying or sugar coating it.

I agree with the sentiment of "Don't expect he will be back in college next year unless he gets hurt" is probably where his head is right now. I also remember Kofi also entered the portal and tested the draft and ultimately returned to Illinois so I am not reading much into it except keeping all his options open of where he could end up and maintain some negotiating leverage for NIL funds as needed. The pay for play years are here and these are business decisions now; not loyalty decisions. Ultimately he has to decide is where he thinks he can end up; better or worse in the long run for him. Be that pro, Illini, or ??. It sucks for the loyalists but that is where we are now.

Loyalty goes both ways. If he truly thinks he has a chance to come back to college, the staff should've made it clear to him that he will have a spot and a top amount of NIL, no questions asked.

Don't expect he will be back in college next year unless he gets hurt

And the staff should have let him know that if he did get hurt, he'd get the top amount of NIL possible and we'd take care of him. Absolutely no reason for him to even entertain the portal.

"Maximizing opportunities" just means he doesn't trust Illinois to provide the most $$ if he does come back to CBB.
