You know it is not that BU is doing poorly in the portal or anything wrong at all. It is just more that the game is now a race to flip the best chest pieces to you board as rapidly as possible.

i get it if you say under 40, but for those of us in our 60’s and beyond we remember Deon, and Quinn Richardson, and Doug Altenburger, and Eddie Johnson walking senior night.

For me Deon will always be the most special after all he went through and is probably the greatest Illini of all time. It is just sad to see that era end.

Yes before you jump me, I want to win a championship, just wish it was done the way it was 20 years ago.

Right now we have the 11th ranked transfer class. Great! The problem is we have kept almost no one from last years team. If we went into the season with the current roster +Dainja, Goode, Hansberry, Harris and Butler I would be feeling pretty good about where we stand. Hopefully the guys we get to fill out the roster look better than that group that we lost.

Seems this transfer class ranking should be a net transfer class, balancing the ins and outs.

I would feel worse about our roster. Keeping Goode and a bunch of back of the bench guys with the current roster is not going to get you anywhere.

Our returning "class" would be about 300

We shall see if they're back of the bench guys, particularly our two on what is shaping up as a pretty darned good looking WVU team.

Some differences of opinion about the others, but we'd all jump at the chance to add back Hansberry and Butler at this point, right?

Happy Trails to you and yours Pru. You old enough to remember this LP? I had it also on 8-Track in a '67 Camaro in 1969.

I'd take Butler as a developmental freshman, but I like what I've seen watching Booth over Hansberry. I would have been OK keeping Dainja but we'll see how we fill the 5. I still think Dainja is unplayable ~half the time depending on the matchup.

While I don’t wholeheartedly disagree with what you’re saying, many had Goode penciled in as a starter before he got hurt 2 seasons ago and as a starter coming into this last season.
Many had Hansberry starting this coming season.
Dain actually did start for a season and many hoped he’d stick around to start this coming season.
And freshman Sencire was a spot starter and decent weapon off the bench who woulda been nice to have this past season and presumably going forward.

Yes, they all have significant limitations, but I wouldn’t really call them “back of the bench” players.
