I haven't listened to it all, really just the first 15 minutes or so. Don't have much to add to what @Hoopster said, but I will say it's at least a relief to hear Coleman completely, unequivocally rule out going to any other school in the B1G.

Finally, if he does return to the NCAA, the likelihood of him returning to Illinois seems to heavily rest on what we do with the final couple of additions in the portal. Assuming we land our big guy here soon and leave 1 scholarship open, those final 2 will be critical. If we spend big on those final 2 and thus land higher profile guys, it would seem to pretty much rule out Coleman returning to Illinois. If we happen to strike out with 1 or both of them, though, then maybe there's more of a chance.
Think we have just enough room $$ wise for a quality big (seems like Tomislav is our main guy at the moment), star wing (Kadary), and Coleman. No?

All we are asking for is that BU give us the full outline of his plan and updates on his progress on that plan maybe 3 or 4 times a day.
Is that really to much to ask for?
You forgot: And provide detailed justifications for every player they are not pursuing in the portal.

Is this based on any actual evidence of just wishful thinking? I've seen nothing substantial that we're even in the ball game for him.

No such thing as a lock, especially for foreign prospects.
He said it sounds like he didn’t mention lock!

Gotta follow the spreadsheet ... ;)
Really appreciate the spreadshot, @soupy17 !

One question - It looks like Cam Christie is currently listed in orange, which would mean he's a priority target. But I've seen multiple posts from those that would seem to know say we have no chance with him due to his family's aversion to us. So is that orange text for him a mistake?

When Coleman was telling his stories about Daddy Brad right after he said that he should be playing at Sacramento State you can see the video was cut....clearly they cut out something

I think we want him and will continue to make an effort for him whether he's likely or not which is why I've left him in orange. Long way to go for that one to play out though while he goes through the draft process

I typically haven't change a priority designation until I get a CB pick or the player publicly puts out a "Final X" list that does not include us.

Was thinking the same.
Also, why does his family have an "aversion" to us? Why is that the case? I mean...Jeremiah's brother went to MSU too...

IF we get the Serb and IF Coleman decides to come back, do you put Coleman at the 3 with Ben at the 4 and the Serb at the 5? That would be great size in the lineup.

Edit: the Croat!
Not directed at you, you are correct, but for others "Hrvatska" is "Croatia" in Croatian. Serbia and Croatian languages are essentially identical spoken, but Serbian is written in the Cyrillic (Russian/Ukrainian) alphabet.

Yes sir, thank you.

@soupy17

This is awesome, but the orange text vs red text is killing me (e.g. I think Kadary is orange, but wouldn't want to stake my life on it).

I don't know if you're planning to do this in future years, but if so, would you consider using more obviously distinct colors?

Really appreciate all the work you've put into the transfer grid, soupy. Any chance you'll consider swapping the red text to something else? It's a little hard for me to distinguish between orange and red text.

Tre White will be a special player for us; more so than fans realize. Mark it, he will be all conference.
It's possible. There's an argument he's the most talented player on the team (3rd behind Morez and Boswell for me, but not by much).

But he was a bad basketball player last year, and will need to prove he's changed.

Red text was a late add as we got to the portal deadline and we started getting a bunch of names that might enter. Right now, any name showing on the list that is a color is orange - I've hidden the rows of the names that I recorded that "might" enter the portal.

There will be some cleanup that will happen over the weekend once we get no more trickle in of portal names where I'll remove those rows and get rid of the red text designation in the key.

Soupy was responsible for the Illinois orange, Wisconsin red uniforms game. ;)

It's a lazy and obvious comparison but there's kind of a lot of Mike Tisdale to him. His brother is even more Tisdale-like physically, but they are twins.

Tomislav is listed at 7-1, 230 and looks it to me, I don't think he's Rienk Mast-like physically at all.

Here's a good photo of the bros, from 2023 apparently

The one twin looks way shorter. I hope that’s not the one we’re getting.

"I don’t want to take away from the new players on the Illini that aren’t expecting me to come back." Coleman saying that doesn't make this feel too good. This line - does it really mean anything or am I just overthinking it...?

Makes sense. For the most part 1st division foreign players are going to make more in NIL than as developmental pieces in euroleague

View attachment 34508
NIL has become a serious draw. Most starters in Euroleague get 5-800k. 2M is a top 10 salary. Euroleague outpays all foreign leagues except China.

To see my previous post on the subject, search "adriatic", by grue2.

Would/can Duke take both of Wooga Poplar and Sion James?

I'd love to swoop in for one of those two. Similar complete, strong shooting senior guard/wings.
I won't speak for Indy but it could be that they lead for both and it's a first come first-served situation. I think it was noted earlier in the thread that Wooga's camp confirmed we've been in touch so we'll see.
