Tomislav Ivisic is nearly done. Then I think they have a decent (not great) shot at one of the top wing targets.

Expect a backup guard type from the portal as well. Someone cheap.

Egor Demin seems out of price range. Still trying.

I have considered my actions, and after deep reflection, I have decided that I owe the board and every person on it an apology! I did not consider how problematic my tongue-in-cheek "Boom" would be. when I flippently posted it. I merely thought that I was being clever and adding a moment of levity while we waited for the next legitimate "boom". I apologize for sullying the sacredness of the "boom" Please forgive me for my grossly inappropriate use of a GIF.

From an outside perspective, Illinois has a tremendous sell at SG. With multiple premier players in the transfer portal at that position being from Illinois/recruited by us out of high school I would have bet money in March that we would have locked that position down by now over say PG/C.

Is there any chance that we are overlooking what the staff sees in DGL? I'm a big fan of his game but can't imagine BU starting multiple 6'2 guards again.

That would explain his steadfast commitment to the program when most of us thought he would be the 1st in the portal.

That seems odd, outside of Boswell it doesn't seem like we should have spent too much.
It's possible that, relative to other schools, we didn't have as much $ as we thought. Thus we thought we could get this or that guy for a certain amount that other schools surpassed. Of courses, little seems verifiable with portal $. Someone saying "I heard Cliff got this much" doesn't mean it actually happened.

That said, we still really need a potent SG.

So what's the plan if the staff doesn't land Demin or wing targets

We spent decent coin on Booth and White, both highly rated guys out of high school. Ben H also had major programs after him too. It's not like we spent the whole bag bringing Boz home

I'm trying to not flame out on myself in terms of hope tbh.

First of all, surely we have an adequate $bag right? ...Or do we? Look...surely it ain't like the bluebloods...but 2nd in the big ten is nothing to sneeze at.

Secondly, who the heck have we spent it on if we can't get dudes this late in the process when there's seemingly sparsely any options left? The guys we've added are good but def. shouldn't clog up our bag like we're making it seem. Wasn't the narrative that we were gonna shine bright cuz we didn't take so called meaningless commits early in the process and saved our $ and roster spots?

If we don't finish this offseason at least moderate in terms of being able to fill our roster needs and getting, plain and simply, quality players (which surely doesn't seem as likely as we thought it would) we'll for sure be that "fringe tourney team" that UNC Clown was talking about and maybe not even that. Just hope we don't have a Xavier type season...

You have to understand with Demin, we are buying out a contract and settling on a number with the player. That adds up to a pretty high number.

Well the alpha wing or SG is what they need most so someone had better get it done.

odd to have a budget?

I think paying one player too much could impact overall team chemistry and diminish returns. It’s unlikely you find that one guy to bring you a championship, clearly in my opinion.

Neither Purdue nor UConn seemed to have better players than us outside of the interior rim protector.

Was going international always part of the plan or a contingency in case of recruits going elsewhere?

Or was it more of an opportunity with OA coming back? Though I thought Geoff was the one with strong international ties.
It has been said before that it was Geoff that has been on the Europeans for a while. OA likely has some influence with Tomislav, though (because of his brother).

It's a work in progress right now for sure. I have no doubts, they will find a good wing for next year.
Hope it is still indeed a "work in progress with Egor."

Hope we get that big fish wing or we develop one of the guys we currently got into that guy and pull Marcus 2.0. Not saying it'll happen....but there's definitely a possibility of Tre, Ben, and some of the others currently on the roster to turn into that guy imo.
