The Galloping Ghost

Washington, DC
When Brad was spotted in Europe, you just knew this was his mindset...

Now can he pull the double?

Boswell at the 1
Tre White at the 2
Ty Rodgers at the 3
Humrichous at the 4
Ivisic at the 5

That's most definitely not a bad way to start the offseason if that would be our starting 5, not taking into account that we might still have some other options possibly to add at the 2/3 spot and for depth at the 5.

Assuming Jakstys redshirts, we'd have DGL for guard depth and Jake Davis, Booth and Morez for forward depth. If we can get some more guard depth and a backup center.....we're really cooking with gas here.
I can also emphatically say Tre White isn’t a 2 and Ty isn’t going to be playing the 3.

If Illinois cannot add either Richmond or Lanier, the next highest rated guard/wing is probably 6'5" Wooga Poplar of Miami. He averaged 13.1/4.8/2.1 this past season, shooting 42.6/38.5/86.4. He played against good competition in the ACC, he's experienced, and he has solid numbers. Illinois could do a lot worse than getting a transfer in from Poplar.

Actually, 6'6' Minnesota guard Cam Christie is probably rated higher than Wooga Poplar. I think that Christie would actually blossom as a 2-guard for the Illini, greatly improving his ranking for the 2025 NBA Draft. Boswell as PG, the fast-paced Illinois offense, and body by Fletch would seem perfect for Cam Christie. But it seems like Christie and family are not fans of Illinois men's basketball? Maybe that can change....
This might help soothe the discord

Yeah, didn't really know where to slot in Tre since I thought Ty was going to be locked in at the 3.

That's super interesting to me that you really don't see Ty as our starting SF. Don't think we see him at PG again, he's definitely not a shooting guard, and we have more depth options at the 4 (unless we really, really wanted to go small ball I guess?). Where do you see Ty's role on the roster?

Insiders, after reading some scouting reports on Jamir Watkins, it seems he might be a pretty good fit at wing for the Illini. The reports say he is a good secondary ball handler, capable of initiating the offense, plays good D, and can score from all three spots. If he doesn't go to the NBA draft, is there any chance we might reach out to him?

Tacomallini

Washington State
Agreed, and even this might be an understatement.....I'd say the Adriatic League is several, several levels higher than the B1G. This is the league where Dante Exum went to get his NBA mojo back, Jokic was league MVP before coming over stateside. I think there are several veterans in the Adriatic who played B1G ball too.

Ivisic was competing against grown a** men and looks like he was holding his own at minimum. Lets ride.
tl;dr I concur, Adriatic League is legit
7 year old article, lazy googling, ymmv:
Ranks the Adriatic League #8 in international pro leagues. You can throw out #1 -Euroleague, since it is comprised of top clubs from the European national leagues.

If we had to choose between Demin and Richmond you go Richmond all day.. Egor might be a projected draft pick but he’s young. Milan Mumcilovic was great all season but then he absolutely vanished when he faced some physicality in the Sweet 16. Richmond has way higher floor offensively and I don’t think it’s even close defensively. Obviously either wont be easy to get but man id be thrilled with either
I disagree Egor is the better option possibly get two years out of him

This is going to be an idiotic question, but I'll ask it anyway because I'm sure there are a bunch that want to ask, but won't. Is he talented enough to come in and immediately play and be a significant contributor on our roster this year or is he a project that is a year or two of development away from being a starting caliber center?
He'll start immediately and be one of the best centers in the big ten. He has a developed post game already, can shoot with both hands around the rim, a very good three point shooter with a smooth and natural shot. He's 7'1 so he'll be tough to block for anyone.

He's playing against former NBA players and pros in the Adriatic league now, so he'll be used to the physical nature of major college basketball. The only question mark for me is his defense - I haven't seen a lot of his tape to know how good he is on that end, he only blocks about a shot a game, so not a true rim protector like Clingan or Onyenso - but I'm sure he can rebound efficiently.

money isn't an issue
This makes me happy. I could accept us swinging and missing on elite targets. It'd stink, but it happens. What wouldn't sit well is to hear that it was a lack of resources that held us back. That said, I think that it's completely reasonable that we underestimated the costs associated with some of these guys. If the numbers being thrown around are accurate, there's only so much that can rationally be done.
