For those that didn't like my Rienk Mast comparison to Tomislav from last week, Jeremy Werner just called him a "longer Rienk Mast".
We can only hope so...Mast was impressive. For those that didn't like my Rienk Mast comparison to Tomislav from last week, Jeremy Werner just called him a "longer Rienk Mast".
So you are Jeremy Werner? jkFor those that didn't like my Rienk Mast comparison to Tomislav from last week, Jeremy Werner just called him a "longer Rienk Mast".
Ah. Good point. Hope you're right! That is a victory celebration.....I'm hoping that means Egor or another big name
Or maybe Sharpshot was just referring to the signing of big T

@Oranges maybe be all over it...that track is in Richmond and it's a victory burnout.Ah. Good point. Hope you're right!
Just saw Cedric Coward portal video, I agree he would look good in orange and blue. Looks like a pro, lots of length for a SG, 6-6. Built like Storr, likely not as explosive leaper but he is a good athlete. Shoots high 3pt percentage, quick release, needs little room and time. Can play "booty ball".Richmond should be the top priority. He's a legitimate all American candidate and he should bounce back and be at least an average 3 pt shooter. The toughness and physicality he plays with really stands out.
Poplar would be my second choice after him. Great shooter, good size, can get to the basket and finish. Just a very well rounded player.
Lanier just had a breakout year and has good size for a guard. Had an incredible year shooting the ball but does kind of have a low release. I would take him but don't know if I would count on him to be the focal point of an offense like you could with the other two.
Christie isn't coming here and honestly would be my 3rd choice of the group. Smooth shooter that can pull up off the dribble but did struggle to finish around the rim. Ton of upside but I would go with the proven vets in Richmond and Wooga.
Seems like the current focus is on Demin at the moment and he's getting mocked as a lottery pick so good upside there. If they do manage to reel in Demin I still wouldn't mind seeing them get a veteran guard to pair with him. Probably can't afford Demin and Wooga but would be very excited by the combo.
Some other cheaper options with some upside could be Jordan Lathon from Morehead st, Ken Evans from Jackson St, Miles Kelly from GT, and a personal favorite in Cedric Coward from EWU(stupid efficient possibly the most underrated player in the portal).
Could also see some guys pull out of the draft become available or even go into D-2 and pull a bench player.
We call it mark-to-market in my industryWith the free unlimited transfers it's basically in a players best financial interests to at least enter the portal every year
We must have won the Richmond 400.
As they say, 'you are what you can guard' and I don't think Hum is guarding 3'sIt’s much more likely that Hum was recruited to play the 4 and small ball 5

Yeah this my takeaway as well. I think we ideally land one of Demin or Richmond and then one last portal guard for some depth who's probably not good enough to start, Harmon-esque.I hope we can land Egor Demin and Jordan Lathon for the final two roster spots. I think Brad is going to fly with 12 this year. I was really impressed with Latham in the NCAA tourney game against us. Believe he put up 23 against us. Also Brad mentioned him in the post game saying they offered him out of HS
Great point about practice. The vast majority of their time will be spent in practice, not in games. Most of their growth will happen at practice, not in games.Ivisic, Morez, Booth and Humdinger is just a really nice blend of talents, ages, experience levels, etc. Those guys are all going to make each other better practicing against each other and will all compete for minutes giving us great depth on the inside.
Aside from PG, that is a very tall lineup.Yeah this my takeaway as well. I think we ideally land one of Demin or Richmond and then one last portal guard for some depth who's probably not good enough to start, Harmon-esque.
Any maybe it ends up looking something like this?
PG: Kylan Boswell (6’2”) / Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (6’1”)
SG: Egor Demin (6’8”) / Portal Guard
SF: Tre White (6’7”) / Ty Rodgers (6’6”)
PF: Ben Humrichous (6’9”) / Carey Booth (6’10”)
C: Tomislav Ivisic (7’1”) / Morez Johnson (6’9”)
Other/Redshirt: Jake Davis (6’6”), Jason Jakstys (6’10”)
I certainly hope you are referring to NateWe can only hope so...Mast was impressive.
My concern is speedAside from PG, that is a very tall lineup.
I never thought I would see the day when I could retire my souvenir Illini cup. But here we are. Not only are we positioned well to win, but even if Demin doesn't work out I know the staff will just bring in someone else.I'm hearing Demin is down to us, KU, and Dook.
No doubt.Ask a Croatian what they speak. Croatian.
That does make me chuckle, the thought of Illini fans jumping like trout at tied flies.I always feel when an insider throws out just little bits or pieces, it's for their own personal entertainment and pleasure. They just sit back and watch us all go crazy over it. lmao ......Maybe even with their buddies saying "watch how these people react from one lil post from me" .
