Trust in Daddy Brad!Okay, which is better? Sign the two transfer players (guards/wings?) NOW that the staff has identified? Or wait until Demin makes a decision? I suppose there's always a chance that Demin to Illinois will be a NO, and that NEITHER of the two other transfers will be available at that time. I'm leaning toward putting a full court press on Demin's recruitment and waiting for his decision. But I might have some conversations with those two other players in the interim.
Thanks, was curious if there is an actual source other than a tweet reporting reports. It was on Twitter, per Bob Tolan:
Breaking: Brad Underwood’s Europe trip was extremely successful… reports are potential ‘25 lottery pick Egor Demin is heading to Champaign for an official visit… NIL package is huge to pull him away from Real Madrid… keep an eye out for an instant impact #ILL
Not so sure about the latter one these days. At least not for those in much higher brackets....in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
Reports saying that Demin is coming to champaign for an official visit. Everybody calm down.
Feels more like we're in the 4th, tied 0-0, but we have a couple of guys on with only one out. We have something going, but still a long way to go in the game.
If that's the case(and who knows if it's true), if he's truly a first round pick, this seems like an NBA type transaction. That said, don't have a clue what his current contract is.So the deal with Demin comes down to if the college path or staying pro in Europe is right for him. Also hearing the reason why its taking longer with Demin is due to having to pay him AND buyout his Real Madrid contract.
Wait for the biggest fish as long as BU is hopeful and/or confident. In regards to reports that we have one or multiple "really good" SG's that are ready to commit but we're waiting on Egor's decision first - I'm not sure why we aren't taking another SG right now - if it's Lanier or Poplar they would start immediately and so would Egor, it would just mean less playing time for Tre White and DGL, and maybe we lose one of them next year, but don't we have to put together the best team possible? Even with Egor - we'd be counting on Egor to be our #1 scoring option, it would be nice to have another shooter.
If it's the next tier down like:
Jailen Bedford
Lucas Taylor
Chaunce Jenkins
Then maybe the staff doesn't feel like they are a significant upgrade to Tre White or DGL, so it's a matter having one other SG who can play significant minutes as the back up plan to Egor - but I'd still take any of these three guys right now and if Egor comes let the cards fall as they may.
My point is - I don't see why we're not taking the really good SG that is ready to commit whether Egor comes or not
KFC was ruined when it got rid of their Georgia Gold rub/sauce...were ruined when KFC introduced higher-quality chicken to them.
If he comes here he gets to be a point guard or point forward type, likely the primary playmaker, and have guys like Humrichous, Ivisic, and Boswell to throw it to who can all knock it down from three. He can run nice pick and rolls or pick and pops with our two bigs and his scoring and assist potential would be maximized. I think for NBA draft stock boosting that beats getting limited minutes on Real Madrid’s A team, unless he’s Luka Doncic level good which he probably isn’t.So the deal with Demin comes down to if the college path or staying pro in Europe is right for him. The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything isDoes anyone have any gifs they could post, maybe some with no purpose but including a number?

I worked at a KFC for two weeks in high school, until I walked out after getting yelled at for refusing to pick the roaches out of a box of sporks. But man, I sure ate more than my measly salary’s worth of chicken littles (dipped in gravy) for those glorious two weeks....were ruined when KFC introduced higher-quality chicken to them.
