I can seem to think of one…

Would we or Fears call it a success if he averaged less than 5ppg?

You'll start to hear how "Illinois doesn't need or want a 12th or 13th man". Total BS and spin doctoring.

The reality is that it's hard to fill out a roster in this current environment with guys who fit. Kansas couldn't get to 13 and they're Kansas.
I don't see how a team can go with any more than 10-11 players on scholarship - you can realistically only give 9 guys any sort of PT and you may be able to convince a freshman it's in his best interest to sit on the bench and learn for a year, but good luck doing that with a sophomore or older

So the deal with Demin comes down to if the college path or staying pro in Europe is right for him. Also hearing the reason why its taking longer with Demin is due to having to pay him AND buyout his Real Madrid contract.
I really hope we get this guy.

If this actually comes to fruition, I am curious (and we'll probably never know) how the buyout will be handled for tax purposes. Does the NIL collective pay it and it's considered a gift or compensation to Demin because they're buying out his contract for him, or do they say it's some kind of business expense that is necessary to bring about the NIL deal, or maybe it's just a big nothing and no tax implications are involved?

Interesting thing will be injuries. NBA can call up from the g league, make a trade, etc. College game teams are largely stuck with the roster they started the year with and if the blue bloods can’t stack their benches they look like Kansas in last years tournament.

He was losing time to another guard by the name of Bradley who shot 46.4% from 3. Does losing playing time mean things aren't working out? Chicken versus the egg. There were some articles in the AZ Republic about Boswell losing playing time...
He was not getting the minutes he wanted and transferred out of the program after 2 years.

Unless his goal was to be at UA for their amazing "Undecided" major program, I don't see how you frame that as working out.

After watching multiple Tre White highlight videos I think we might have a keeper.Nice stroke, elite athlete, good defender, under rated passer. This staff has an elite eye for talented BB players.
Agreed. Tre looks like the real deal to me.

I worked at a KFC for two weeks in high school, until I walked out after getting yelled at for refusing to pick the roaches out of a box of sporks. But man, I sure ate more than my measly salary’s worth of chicken littles (dipped in gravy) for those glorious two weeks.
Been there…… except for the cockroaches and gravy. Oh, and it was Chik-Fil-A.

He will be an all-conference player. I am sure he will be one of the biggest surprises and best players coming out of the portal.

Can we please stop with this open scholarship nonsense? What happened to depth? We're like one injury away from a paper thin roster. Do we really need a spot held open for the next Zacharie Perrin?

Looks to me like Brad Underwood should give Tommy Lloyd a call and chat a bit about the challenges of integrating International players with his EDGs. If it comes to fruition that Demin is in the fold, this will be a talented roster....which does not mean a great team. BU has been facing such problems for the last handful of years and, IMHO, has solved most of them in most years. One thing for certain is that the addition of Demin and Ivisic will certainly get the attention of CoHawk. No better spot for him than with the Fighting Illini!!!

Of course, there is the consideration that the guy reporting that Demin has committed to U of I may not understand that he has only committed to visit as reported on another site....which may be the case.

Are these European guys for sure even eligible? We've seen a lot of other programs get burned by NCAA eligibility for highly coveted Euro prospects.
