He shot 30% from 3 last year and wasn't that efficient overall as a result (on not-that-high volume). I'm not saying he won't take a step, but he has a ways to go with that. Some will say he was forced into taking bad shots because of his team, and maybe that's true, but I personally think that can only explain so much. I like that he gets rebounds, but then there's some overlap with Ty if he's on the court for rebounding more than efficient shooting.

He was dang good before he got here. 58%TS on reasonable volume. Got some steals and contributed to a good defense overall. He became elite in his second year with us, but his metrics at TT were better than our current transfers.

Exactly how I feel. Literally not 1 of these guys have proven they can lead a team to top of any conference. Boswell wasn't even the guy in Arizona towards the end of the year.
Potential is there but if people are just saying this top part of Big Ten they are just fanboys. They have the potential sure but without that guy this team middle of pack if they don't love up to potential.

Skky does not pass the ball, Mayer initially sulks, Shannon gets few looks, Hawk says freshman point guards suck, then let's drink 6 Monsters before the game, Perrin thinks Champaign sucks,etc.
It is probable a reportalized bball team may not gel. The Illini Nation has seen the bad and the good gels the past two seasons.
We had 2 guys that were great last season and they were 1st team All B10. Hawkins was very, very good. Ty was solid but great is only how id describe TSJ and Domask and they contributed the most to our success. Ty has to improve at the rim, and shooting overall to be great but he does play to his strengths and works his tail off. Imo thats what he is great at. He plays to his strengths. Ty was solid contributor role player much like Goode due to his leadership and effort to try and be the best he could be and play to his strengths. It will be interesting to watch the battle for minutes between Ty and Tre White because they are similar in size, are both athletic but Tre may have an edge offensively. I do think the additions of big T and Ben should help Ty not be guarded by bigs as often as last season where he can do his thing down low where he can do well if he finishes at a higher rate. I'm not sure how much he will play with Morez since we do need shooting to help space the floor. I'm glad we have Ty and I hope with our added shooters and future transfers we add that can help Ty be great next season. Without our top 3 from last year someone needs to replace the guys that were.
