Are we still in the phase where the insiders are 100% sure we are going to get a player to fill the gaping hole in the roster, and people here actually believe them? The NBa draft can’t get here soon enough. I’m ready to move on to the denial phase.

On Dietrich Richardson, one thing that concerns me, when you watch local highlights by Hall of Famer Jim Mattson, you rarely heard Dietrich's name brought up. He's still young, but right now, I don't think he's good enough to be an Illini.

That said, with the way Underwood has been recruiting high school kids, no-brainers and projects that want to be at Illinois, maybe he does end up in Champaign. However, I expect him to be more of the Phoenix Gill type. Good enough to get offers from a lot of schools, but not what Underwood is looking for. Guess we'll see how he develops.

He’s a 6’7 point guard with a ton of potential. I don’t think he compares to phoenix

when he first popped onto my radar, I was pretty dubious that he was Illini material (as is frequently the case). but his trajectory has been impressive. I'm getting less dubious by the month. is he a sure thing (take)? doubtful, but he has a lot of time.

if he is a take, it would be a nice fit with Fears. am assuming Fears is a 2 year guy, so Richardson would have a year to get ready

I actually think Fears is only going to play 1 full season for the beloved. He will be draft able based on potential and his high ceiling, all he has to do is come in and play up to his potential.

And Brad is building the team with Fears’ freshman year in mind as well- you can see from the types of guys he’s getting in the portal.

Fears would be the missing piece on this team next year minus Humditty

Fears will definitely don’t nicely in the scoring wing role.

So is the reason why we're arguing about Watkins or Lathon +1 that insiders aren't optimistic about Watkins?

Or are y'all just trying to calm the folks that will hand wring & complain regardless?
