changing subject to Morez. I just watched several highlight videos. In addition to his obvious skills in the paint, he can shoot. Midrange and deep. And he's certainly not skinny. He's not going to get shoved around, even in the BIG. I think we've got a gem. Just give him a little time to test the waters of college ball.

For those that want to keep an eye on Kasparas.

Thanks for the link. Nolan Traore might be the best player in the tournament, very well defined Point Guard skills. They lean on a PER rating for player efficiency and his around 31, Kasparas around 29 and Demin was 15.

Kasparas is well built for rising 18 year old, fundamentals strong. Greatest weakness I saw today was defense, just not a a standout and had to guard Traore who went off for 45 points. Kasparas built reminds me of Podz, his closest college comparison I felt was Tyler Kolek. Good offfensive player, high assist, muscular built. If we was in this year's MCAA game I would think he would be top 10, if he played in next year's MCAA game he would probably be in the top 5 conversation. Mentioned several times, he was considered the most polished PG in the tourny. A ball dominant true PG, how do you play him and Boswell. It gives us a Deron and Dee type problem, which is a good problem.

Igor Demon (Demmon sounding), a more lankey 6-8 built, didn't play until 2nd quarter against an overmatched team. Once again hard to judge competition, but I felt he would be a top 3-5 MCAA player this year without a doubt. He is a pass first Guard/wing, swiss army type player. Can do a lot of things and can get away with things because of his height. HIs position less defined than Kasparas or Traore who are PG, although you can argue Traore is more Combo. Because of Demon height he often was down low guarding bigger players on switches and had a couple of blocks or tips. He can also cut to the hoop and finish. Once again he is lankey but not skinny, it doesn't take a big leap of faith to see with stregth and skill developement he has NBA potential. His PER was lower in the 15 range, possibly because his team might be better balanced and less reliant on him to score. Hugo Gonzalez is a nice player and future star of Spanish national team. Only comparioson I have for Demon is think of a skilled lankey 6-8 player at various college programs. Possibly the 6-8, 18 year old version of Toni Kukoc.

Hugo Gonzalez, well built true SG. If BU and Antigua selected him as our SG I wouldn't be upset. He is listed at 6-5 to 6-6, Wally Szerbiak comes to mind for some reason, likely due to shooting and muscular built. He is looked upon on the next Spanish basketballl star which typically equates to being a 10 year NBA pro. MCAA ranking probably would be where Liam McNeely (Montverde) was.

Overall these European teams are more entertaining to watch then the Montverde, IMG, MCAA games. The seem like true games vs. all-star type games IMHO.

There should always be a place for guy who just grinds and finds ways to win. That is what I think separates Morez from much of the competition.
I think that Morez (like most Freshmen) will need some work on his defense. The games I watched he seemed to have slow feet and allowed guys to score around him. He will have good coaching though, but will have to avoid fouling.

I think he'll be a great Illini. Year two he'll be a stud....

Yes he can shoot a bit, which is important because Underwood likes bigs that can pop out and shoot.

There's some real concern that Kasparas Jakucionis is playing his way into a huge contract with Barco or pricing himself out in terms of an NIL package in the U.S.

Illinois put together a strong package for him. We'll see.
Young man just can’t stick to the script ,he wasn’t suppose to start blowing up until he gets to the beloved.

Hugo Gonzalez is a pipe dream for us, IMHO. He's a higher rated player than Demin on many draft boards. If we were to pull that one off, he would be our most hyped incoming recruit of all time.

I don’t think it was at all implied that we might get him or even be trying. I think @SescIllini was just offering some comments after watching some of those games.
