I'm guessing that the staff laid it out to him when he committed.Silly question, perhaps, but does Jakstys himself know this? We’re all assuming he’s gonna redshirt, but is that what he’s assuming?

Think a bunch of guys would have concerns. Adding a big wing shooter would pretty much kill any Jake Davis minutes this year even if he was already looking at a situational role.I have to imagine Tre White would have some concerns given he would be most impacted, but again - you have to earn your PT- we don't know how ready KJ will be even though he looks like he will be awfully ready
Guys on Sleepers basically said that transfers who have not started school (summer) could get out of their deals and go somewhere else. I think Ty and DGL are stuck. Not sure about freshman.Would someone be upset enough to leave?
Coleman isn’t going to Mizzou.

I don't think Ty was even close to 20 mpg last season, but winning the BTT and making the Elite Eight was plenty good enough for him last year and I suspect will also be good enough for him next year. Don't know anything about White but you'd think he'd also like to be part of a great team as well.If we get Riley and everyone stays healthy (both big "ifs"), both White and Rogers will likely have a tough time averaging 20 mpg. Not impossible, especially for Ty who can play PF and even a bit of PG, but I'd bet against it.
Exactly, since any player can up and leave at any moment, the coaching staff whose jobs depend on winning can’t afford to not stack as much talent as they can. Do think some sort of multi year contracts with buyouts, deferred compensation earned for sticking around an extra year, etc. would be good for everyone.I was curious if this would be a concern by some. There are risks as a player in the NIL world and this is one of them. A coach's job is to maximize the talent and cohesiveness. It can be a challenge with the new NIL landscape.
Apologies on the misread. What about my post gives any indication I think that's a possibility? Was just pointing out that between Mizzou and UNC are the only two I could absolutely not handle outside the B1G
Guess I expected too much common sense out of loyalty posters

Boswell is a beast and will start. He is more than catch and shoot. Toward the end of the year, Illini and Rutgers will have the best backcourts in the BIG (in my opinion).Think a bunch of guys would have concerns. Adding a big wing shooter would pretty much kill any Jake Davis minutes this year even if he was already looking at a situational role.
Davis would probably be better off redshirting then burning a year of eligibility and not playing.
White, Ty, Hum, and Booth could also an impact to their minutes. Honestly, Boswell too if he doesn't develop into more than just a catch and shoot guy.
All that being said I really like a Kasparis, Ty, Riley, Hum, Ivisic lineup. All 6'5+ with a lot of shooting on the floor.

Don't look down on MO too much - its one state where you might get a passing grade in grammar. This might be even a worse take than the Fletch debate. They could hire Roger Powell and they’d still Missouri.

Sorry, one poster said he couldn't stomach Coleman in the B1G. SoIL just added two other schools that he couldn't stomach. He wasn't suggesting Missouri was a possibility any more than he the first poster was suggesting that Minnesota was a possibility. I think the comment was more about the schools out there that you'd hate to see a beloved player go to.Hold on now. I'm gonna play referee here and call BS on SoILIllini. **throws flag**
You ask what about your post gives any indication you think that's a possibility? Uh... saying "I would add UNC and Mizzou to the list." You can't throw that out there then say you didn't think it's a possibility. I don't think Coleman's going to outer space but if I said "I'd hate it if Coleman ended up on Mars" I've at least suggested -- no matter how absurd -- that it's a possibility.
Noblesville Illini: After further review, there was no misread so your apology is being returned to you.
Come on, man… he said “any indication.” Merely suggesting the possibility meets that criteria.Sorry, one poster said he couldn't stomach Coleman in the B1G. Just caught the final half or so.Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but for those of you missing Illini basketball, MSU at Illinois from this past season is on BTN right now…
