Would love to see Illinois sign Miikka Muurinen. He could become one of the all-time Illini basketball greats. Also, great pairing with Mikel Brown.

Muurinen has really blown up now - all the top schools have prioritized him- Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Alabama, etc so it will be a recruiting battle to say the least. I know Geoff was in on him early so hopefully that helps, but this would be a recruiting win of epic proportions if we get him

Its am encouraging trend though isn't it? Think back to the recruiting days of Groce and even Weber... How many 5 stars even gave the Illini a second thought? We were happy for 3 stars and juiced when we got a 4. Don't get me wrong, those things are all good still but now we are getting 5 star consideration. And even landing one. Exciting times! BU and company are competing with the blue bloods for these guys and winning their fair share.

Jarin Stevenson at Alabama had a mom that played on UNC's ACC winning teams in the 90's and he lived right down the road from UNC. He chose Bama last year. Sometimes it's just about where a guy feels comfortable. Kids sometimes want a different path from mom and dad.

I won’t give away any of the information from the article, but on paper Illinois and Deron seem like a match made in heaven.

It absolutely doesn't mean a thing in terms of being a lock, sure thing to a program, etc...but it does give UNC an advantage nonetheless - even though it might not prove all that big of a matter at the end.

And we see what's happening with Jasper as another example...
