I can't believe that is the verbatim text from the article. Sounds like they put one sentence into ChatGPT and said "give me 4 other versions of this sentence that are basically, but not exactly, the same."Not exactly Blue Bloods recruiting Alex
Oregon: Has been going very strong in this recruitment
Oklahoma State: Has reached out and is showing heavy interest
Illinois: Has been constant and intentional about their interest
Kansas State: Has reached out and is very excited to recruit him
California: Showing a lot of interest
I'm not willing to rule out the possibility that Jake Weingarten is an AI generated person.I can't believe that is the verbatim text from the article. Sounds like they put one sentence into ChatGPT and said "give me 4 other versions of this sentence that are basically, but not exactly, the same."
How about the alternate timeline of us getting AJ storr as originally planned? That is the darkest one of all
Him, the k1d, etc.Is that the guy who had extremely confidently bad "inside" info about Bryce Hopkins? Was actually randomly thinking about that the other day.
Offering Storr a spot was a no-brainer. He's from Illinois and was by all accounts quite interested in "coming home." But we didn't match KU's offer, which shows that while we wanted him, we didn't view him as a must.Lol.
Just curious. What are your feelings about staff offering them spots?
Sorry, but we got lucky. All indications are that he would not have been worth what we offered. Certainly his performance at Kansas would not justify the numbers we were offering. And of course he would have eaten up a spot.Offering Storr a spot was a no-brainer. He's from Illinois and was by all accounts quite interested in "coming home." Our staff played that one perfectly.
Maybe it was Underwood's plan all along to force Self to overpay.Offering Storr a spot was a no-brainer. He's from Illinois and was by all accounts quite interested in "coming home." But we didn't match KU's offer, which shows that while we wanted him, we didn't view him as a must.

Yes, he was gonna be Shannon 2.0 in an identical/retread scheme from the year before as well. How about the alternate timeline of us getting AJ storr as originally planned? That is the darkest one of all
Did yall not watch him last year? The gf stuff, demands, not cool I get that. But he can ball. Hard to show that on a team like Kansas that's all #1 option type dudes.Yes, he was gonna be Shannon 2.0 in an identical/retread scheme from the year before as well.
We dodged a bullet…two bullets really. I’m more than okay with Self overpaying for him and Dickinson both. (HD can’t/wont guard a lamppost…and Storr has been a bust in more ways than one.)
I certainly wanted him and absolutely saw the TSJ model to apply to him. He was second team all big ten last year... This was common. Granted there was a lot of "we can fix him" built into this. More so on the attitude, and his 3pt shooting but the rest was there.Yes, he was gonna be Shannon 2.0 in an identical/retread scheme from the year before as well.

If you look at the opponents that Demin averaged 13ppg/6apg on 49/38/68 splits against, those were schools that were ranked 300th+ on kenpom. And he started struggling 3 games before the injury - ever since they started playing against top100 schools. When he got hyped by everyone after starting the season hot from three, I knew that his 3PT shooting will go down to earth eventually - he's always been a 25-30% 3pt shooter in Europe for the last 4 years. There's no doubt we got the better player, but those stats aren't a completely fair assessment. Demin has been playing hurt for a good deal of BYU's season so far.
"In his first eight games, Demin averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists, shooting an efficient 49.3% from the field, 38.5% from three and 68% from the free-throw line. However, since entering Big 12 play after his injury, Demin has struggled, averaging just 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and six assists while shooting 29.4% from the field, 6.3% from three and 66.6% from the free-throw line over four games."

He really wasn't that awesome as many posted when he was rumored to be coming to IL. He was an inefficient scorer without much else to his game.Storr was awesome at Wisconsin. Do we think he just forgot how to play basketball? I have to feel like culture and fit play a role here, and while it's impossible to run the counter-factual, I don't think you can rule out the possibility that Storr under BU's coaching is closer to the Wisconsin version than the Kansas version. BU obviously thought there was talent there and he's been as good an evaluator of talent as anyone in the game.
That being said I think things worked out just fine, and I like the roster we ended up with. Our staff is great at slapping together a contingency plan when things go sideways, which is a huge asset in the transfer portal era.
A guy that was supposed to be a transformative piece comes in gives you next to nothing? He’s quite often been nearly unplayable. He only played 4 minutes against Arizona State…4 minutes.Did yall not watch him last year? The gf stuff, demands, not cool I get that. But he can ball. He would have been very good next to KJ.
Idk man, Brad thought he was pretty good. What does he know though, right? He really wasn't that awesome as many posted when he was rumored to be coming to IL. He was an inefficient scorer without much else to his game.
True--Underwood and Self both saw something they wanted so clearly there is more there than he is showing this year. This is an overstatement, but he always looked like a chucker to me. In the games I watched, it wasn't like he was forced to create shots with the shot clock expiring--he was just a black hole taking bad shots rather than running the offense and finding open teammates. He'd make 2-3 wow plays and 10 ugh plays.Idk man, Brad thought he was pretty good. What does he know though, right?
In all seriousness, yes he was inefficient. He was also tasked with being a volume scorer on a team that lacked a good #2 option. He was taking almost 14 shots a game, while nobody else averaged more than 7.8. Nobody on our current team even takes 10. At Wisconsin Storr was getting every team's best defender every night. Taking that volume of shots with the defense's full attention is going to affect your efficiency. Again, no way of knowing how it would have turned out here but I don't think you can just assume that in our system, with the other players around him, the efficiency stats will stay the same. His 3pt% was 40% his freshman year at St. John's, so the potential is there. Perhaps in a system where he is not touching the ball every possession and is able to find find space and get either open looks from deep, or lanes to the basket (which is exactly what our offense is designed to do) he flourishes. We'll never know but it seems like BU thought that might be the case.
Looks like a win for Illinois and Wisconsin. Not mo ey well spent for KU so far. He can catch fire in NCAA, he is capable. He really wasn't that awesome as many posted when he was rumored to be coming to IL. He was an inefficient scorer without much else to his game.

Brad's batting rate in terms of getting productive team players is very high. Like 70-80% rate. The bang for your buck this staff gets is absolutely unreal. Of course I don’t know numbers, but whenever we get outbid, it sure seems like we have pretty dang good alternatives for the price we want to pay.
Such a hugely underrated quality.
