I wonder about this too, but in his defense I don’t think he’s actually had much chance to be a PG — or at least in the more traditional sense. Now maybe that’s because his coaches don’t think he can handle it or maybe it’s just the personnel with whom he’s played. This year between KJ all season and BU using Will to initiate offense that last half of season. he really hasn’t played much true PG. At Arizona he played with ball- dominant Love last year and Kriska and other players who would initiate offense the year before. I’d actually be interested in seeing how he’d do as a pure point now that he’s added being more aggressive getting to hoop. Don’t think that will happen with Illini though even next year.
All good points.

KB did throw a couple of really nice assist passes tonight, the sort that a true faciliator makes. The two I am thinking about showed excellent court awareness and were both the exactly right thing to do. That looks like improvement to me.

Hey, for sure, let's keep OA and GA, let them do what they do! Let's also get ourselves an Offensive AND Defensive guru in here to round this staff out!

Like they said Hindsight sight is 20/20,last year we only had 2 bigs Coleman and Dainja bought seems to complement each other with different skills set.Coleman was lightening and Dainja brought the thunder in the paint without much issues so I can understand them going with just 2 capable bigs again.Booth was just a total miss……
Last year we also had Amani Hansberry, who was a bit undersized, but a beast. Guerrier was a serviceable 4 to clog the paint too, when needed, imo.
Love Morez and Tomi, but I feel like we're much thinner up front this year.

If staff wants Tre White back will he stay? Feel like he’d be solid in similar role minutes wise off the bench (18-22) plus seems like his body language is trending up.

@Indy Illini Fan sounds like hes not leaving for EIU anytime soon. Is he even better then lieb?

It’s not a knock on the kid … He puts in the work, no problems off the court …

But if he’s playing significant minutes based on what I’ve seen in practice … We’re in trouble …

Brad was talking about playing him 5-6 minutes … That’s probably fair … But he probably could start and be a good player if he went down a level …

I’m not opposed to keeping Rez, White, Boz and Tommi as starters.
Add a STUD scoring PG
If accepted Davis and Hum ( role like last night) off the bench.
Thats a good core with another summer with Fletch.
Add in some athletic pieces and see about getting back to hanging championship banners.

Do you know how to do anything but criticize Ben?

Don't know anything about this kid, but he certainly saw how a center can be featured.

He is for next year correct? If so are we pitching him a three man rotation with Ivicic and Morez? Not sure if he's good enough you need to do that but seems hard to compete with Michigan who have both of their post guys leaving I believe

I was team tear it down last offseason (I was wrong on a couple of guys), but I do think some continuity while adding to it with a few euro and portal guys could do wonders. If you could add maybe a point guard, two wings, and a big to a solid returning core, I do think that could do wonders this offseason.

Indy, do you see him ever helping us at 20 minutes a game by his senior year? I’ve only seen some of his high school highlights. Is he not a good enough shooter to give us some points there eventually? Or is he just not athletic enough that he won’t be able to defend or rebound at a B1G level? Any chance that he becomes a piece for us as a senior?

Well thats 80 minutes to be shared so for a big man 27 or so roughly is a good amount.

If he would be in line for 5 or 6 minutes a game then he would be ahead of Booth because he isn't getting that many. If so Booth is certainly gone next year.

How’s his shot? Can he stretch the floor yet?

I would think that too...but the lack of a third big man on our current roster indicates that it can be an issue in recruiting
I think BU went 5 out and counted on Booth or Ben for spot minutes. I don't know if they even considered offering someone like Somerville from Peoria who is a freshman at Rutgers and has some size and weight to him. Sometimes coaches miss and I think BU did on Booth playing any 5 this year.

My immediate thought with Ty redshirting was that he is 100% transferring in the offseason. Is there an actual world in which he could stay?
