I want an Andrew Funk or Lee Humphrey type sharpshooter on the wing(or big guard) so badly.

This years team is missing it, last years team was missing that shooter. Plummer was the last high volume knockdown shooter we had but he was too small to play defense.
Odd stat on Lee Humphrey - each year as a junior and senior at Florida, he was 113-246 for .459.

Bring AJ Storr in at half the price of last year. Martinelli is a winning player who would add a ton of value.

Convince Larry Ellison to switch back to the beloved and write KJ a big check after convincing him that it would be fun to run it back with his friend Dame (relax everyone on this board who love to tell people when they're wrong to increase their fake insider credentials, I know this isn't happening...)
We dodged a bullet once with Storr, why would you want to put the gun in your mouth now? I knew I had seen all I needed to see from Storr when he tried that pass to himself off the backboard.

I like Martinelli a lot too. Already pretty well versed in booty ball concepts

I won’t discuss the exact number as it’s obviously not a done deal and active negotiations for that kid and his family etc. but Constanza is not getting $1 million from us …
Then I am fine as long as it's not $2M. IMHO, most five star freshmen do not worth $1M or close. You have to be within the best 15-25 1st year NBA players (in the next season) to be worth that.

From friends in attendance...
Lack of motor..effort on D...then Brad walked out after he missed free throws down the stretch
I will never understand lack of motor. I have never in my life played a game that I didn’t go all out, even if the stakes were 0. If I had a high major coach in attendance to watch me play, I can’t imagine how hard I would go.

Hugs tells this story all the time …

But Disney world … AAU tournament … 8 AM game on the farthest court in the gym …

Jevon Carter … Pressing … Only one on his whole team pressing …

That kid is a winner … He had the freaking fire …

Tough finding kids like that nowadays …

I should start out by saying that I have no clue what is true and what isn’t when it comes to NIL money but comments like these make me even more confused as to why a team would pay someone like Coleman Hawkins $2MM for one year. Someone who has gotten feedback from the NBA twice and was a (really good) role player for a good team for 4 years. It just seems like the obvious answer would be the guy wants to play hero ball, stuff the stat sheet, and be able to showcase himself as “the guy” in his final year. A player like that is done playing to win and is more in the camp of playing for scouts. Matthew Mayer is an all to real example for Illinois fans. Glad that happened so (hopefully) we no longer recruit guys like that in the portal. Would be smarter in my opinion to get a young guy for a little more money than the market is demanding to have a chance to have him at the school for multiple years.

counterpoint, experience players win a lot of college basketball. Young guys go through ups and downs as we've seen this year, and frankly aren't any more likely to stick around anyways.

We have to stop bagging on Hawkins and how much he's getting paid. Is it too much compared to what others are making? Probably. Is it the worst investment anyone has made this season? Definitely not. He's arguably their best player, and a competitor. The guy pushed himself to come back as soon as possible from an knee injury, so he could keep trying to win for a team that's not making the tourney. K-State has issues, but it's certainly not because Hawkins is trying to "play hero ball, stuff the stat sheet."

I'm glad Coleman made the big bag this year, although I would have loved for him to return to Illinois for his Covid year. I'll always cheer for Coleman, wherever he plays.

I would argue that, because he’s their best player that $2 million was a HORRIBLE investment. Love Coleman and I’m happy for him that he got his bag, but K-State definitely overspent on him and underspent on the rest of the team. They could’ve got a comparable player for much less and then spread the wealth for better teammates.
