Yeah I really like Tre. And I know the market has shifted even since Terrence was here so maybe prices have shot up. But that’s roughly what we paid Terrence and my understanding is in the ballpark of what we paid Kasparas.

Tre is fantastic in his role as a defender/rebounder/4th option offensively getting his buckets through cuts, offensive rebounds, and lately corner 3’s off of dribble penetration. He hasn’t shown the ability consistently get shots for himself or generate offense for others. I don’t think I’d want to pay 1st/2nd option type of money for a 4th option type of player. And if we move him up to 1st/2nd option, I think we get something closer to what he was at Louisville, which isn’t an efficient or winning player.

But if someone else wants to throw that kind of bag at him, I can’t blame him for taking it either. I hope we can work something out and keep him for next year in something approximating his current role at a price that makes sense for both sides.

Interesting. Ben is listed. DGL is not.

Taking Notes GIF by One Chicago

They want Ben back … In a bench role like he has now for not even half of the NIL he got this year …

If he is willing to accept that … He’ll be back … If he’s not … He’ll be gone …

Would you rather have Martinelli or Tre if they cost the exact same …
Tre White for sure. Martinelli is only comparable because he is “THE” guy there and has the ball in his hand all the time. I think their floors are similar but Tre’s ceiling is so much higher. He impacts the game without the ball much better than Martinelli IMO which is the role we would have open. This is all assuming Tre and the coaching staff have resolved their internal issues and Tre doesn’t get a month long illness next year too 😅😅

Wondered the same. It sure seems like Tre received the message Brad was trying to get across though.
That second sentence is key. Maybe Tre realizes the benefit of BU’s tough love and what it brought out in him. Obviously that wouldn’t preclude him from going after a bag of cash. In these kinds of situations, I always wonder how much it is a player’s people pushing for the cash. They just seem to only see money, starting and minutes. The player knows what the coach/team/situation have brought out in him.

Not sold on the shooting (good numbers this year, but sub 30% from 3 the two prior years - with jump in competition will that revert?), but the assist numbers and low turnover numbers are eye-popping.
I think this year’s shooting numbers are closer to what we’d get. First year he was obviously a freshman and second year that Pacific team was terrible. Not sure how much you can take away when having to play on that team.

Hard to say without knowing the rest of our roster and/or knowing our budget.

Martinelli would be good in a Domask role. But I’m not sure how Domask would have been without a Terrence or a bunch of shooters surrounding him.

Martinelli + elite wing + shooters might be good. But I would have questions about our defense just like last year.

I actually think our current roster (shooting woes notwithstanding) can beat you in more ways than 2024 and would prefer we try and model this year’s roster if possible.

The real advantage of a guy like Martinelli over a guy like Tre is his ability to clear everyone out and just go get a bucket when you need one. He's a really tough guy to guard one on one.
He takes a lot of shots and isn't the most efficient (he and Tre are very similar in regard to efficiency metrics), but is that because that's who he is or is it because that's who Collins needs him to be? Better teammates usually make a guy more efficient.

Having to choose between these guys would be a great problem to have.

If we got Odom I would be curious what our starting lineup would look like, if we are also getting Sarr.

Of our current lineup, Will and KJ are gone. Presumably Odom isn’t coming here if he isn’t starting. I don’t think Sarr is coming here to come off the bench and I kinda doubt Morez sticks around if he isn’t starting. Also I’d be concerned with our defense with a small PG out there.

Not against it but i just wondering if there’s another option that might be a better fit.
Odom is a small kid... 160 pounds if he is lucky.

What are the odds of DGL coming back next year?
Thye can't be very good. Kid has a huge heart, but he has limitations that coaching can't fix. He will never be a "plan A" starter on a team with championship aspirations.
Is it more fun to be the 7th or 8th man on a B1G contender or THE MAN at a mid-major? I don't know, but he doesn't appear to enjoy watching much.

I'm intrigued by him but also have to remember that BH's 3pt% ticked down almost a full 10% in the transition to Big 10 basketball. Harmon's % also dipped down going from WAC to B1G.

I think open 3s are harder to get in the B1G, SEC, Big-12 than in mid-majors. Much better defenders in this conference than in the WCC. And given Odum's lack of track record prior to this season, I think caution is warranted. That being said if you want a pure playmaker PG and the shooting is just a bonus if it pans out, then that makes sense to me.

While watching some of the Youngstown State/Robert Morris game last night, I was impressed with Gabe Dynes as a possible backup center thru the portal. He is 7'3", but very thin (190 lbs on SR, 225 on ESPN,) with a 7'3" wingspan. He is a good rim protector (6 blocks this game and 3.1 for the year,) and looked very good on lob dunks. Insiders, have you heard anything on this kid? He is only a sophomore playing just 22" per game, so a backup role at a P4 might interest him.
