Stability absolutely could take tre to another level but I'll pay devils advocate. What if by staying he assumes he is "the guy" but his game doesn't really evolve and he is forced back into the role he has now (not being the central figure). I can't see him being happy in that scenario.
If he is the guy, then we're in trouble next year. I hope he's not assuming that. He'd play an integral part, but we need another KJ-type player.

What is Few considering? NBA? Take a break for a while?
Seems like a simple guy. Fly rod and a creek, or a fishing boat hooked up at 5:30 AM and enjoying the quiet life. He's 62, and I'm sure this new style of basketball isn't much fun for him with the money, handlers, agents, and bags.

Perhaps he's just gonna enjoy life, nothing wrong with that!

Who are the likely departures for next year?
I have no knowledge, but I'd say: DGL 100%. Ty 90%. Tre White 50%. BH 50% (depends if he accepts lower offer).

I think we need Ty to be honest. Imagine Morez and him on the court at the same time? The Illini would definitely maintain the offensive rebound edge.

Dgl, Ty, Booth, Will, and KJ would be my guesses. If we have Tre I don't see Ty staying. That's a big reason he sat this year. Tre does what ty does except scores and makes FTs

He's been great these last few... but ur talking basically the third or fourth option on this team vs the arguably the best individual player in the league. Sure :rolleyes:
Martenelli is a B10 POY candidate IMO if he's on a good team and has the wins to show for it.

Don't think it's totally bizzare to say he's been the best player this year.... he just doesn't have the winning.

Yes, I forgot about KJ and Will--for sure. Tre definitely can hit the three and drive to the basket like Ty, but Tre does well around the rim, too. Great points.

Ty has not ever even attempted a 3 or a mid range for that matter. Even at the rim Ty may drive but missed far to often. Tre and Kylan both seem to get and ones quite often lately. Offensively Ty isn't close to the player Tre is. If this roster fills out and Rez, Ben, Tre and even Jake return I just don't see many minutes for Ty if we want shooters on the floor.

I do agree. I love how 'Rez plays. Ty plays the same way, but he is a liability on offense. I love his attitude, hustle and toughness, though.

Illinois has a lead and playing good defense at the end of the game is paramount. Ty would fit in well, but I also understand Ty wants to be more than just a "role" player. So, I get it.

My concern is that he's another finesse big. If we can get him for bargain NIL, fine. But I'd much rather have Chase Walker of ISU. He makes threes, can score down low, and is a physical presence in the paint.
Big Z is a great rim protector. Averaging over 2 blocks a game. That's a skill we don't really have and can use (and Chase Walker's 0.3 blks a game doesn't provide).

Opposing teams nightmare to have twin towers communicating commands in a foreign language to each other while trying to get points in the paint against them. WOW. Can you even imagine trying to go inside with the twins defending the rim?

Big Z is a championship-caliber add when you have Morez and Tomi already. All of a sudden foul trouble isn't a death blow. 26-28 minutes a game is about perfect for a big man over the course of a 30 game season.

If we can go out and get a PJ Haggerty/Watkins type...Get the refuel going cause this train ain't stopping

I’m pretty sure Ty shot a 3 from the right sideline/ corner his freshman year.

Yes, he’s a non-shooter, still.
