Would Jakstys be help inside next year, or is he more like the euro 4s?Rez is listed as 6'9, 255 lbs
Tomi is listed as 7'1, 255 lbs (mononucleosis caused him to lose some 10 lbs)
No way is Tomi near as strong as those guys I don't care what he weighs. I don't believe either weighs 255 either. Ive stood by Tomi when he wore a t shirt n shorts and by Meyers several times and Meyers is a much stronger both in college and even still. Meyers was lifted more than anyone but Crowder at the combine and was only 260lbs. Tomi just isnt as big, or strong or athletic as these guys. Tomi is skilled. Tomi and Rez both struggle not fouling since they aren't as broad. You saw the match ups. Rez will get there but he isnt yet. I think he would agree. I dont buy those numbers for Tomi or Rez. Unless Tomi put on 20lbs since the football game. They both get moved. Rez isnt that big. Espn has 225, he may be 235. He was moved pretty easily in both match ups vs the Terps bigs and by TKR who is just slightly bigger. That 255 has to be inflated. Regardless they both were moved vs Purdue and Maryland. We used to have 2 guys like that would cause us problems if they played vs us. I hope Rez gets there, I think he will. We need more bigger, stronger, athletic dudes. Guys like Kofi, Dain, Queen, Reese, and TKR will just continue to be a headache this year. Rez will be that guy. Luckily most teams don't gave guys like that. I have zero doubt Rez will be that guy next season. I hope we had another one to support him.Rez is listed as 6'9, 255 lbs

I agree that roster construction was an issue but the lineup you just created wouldn't even make the tournament.I agree that roster construction was the problem. Our offensive approach has changed but imagine if we had Dain, Morez, Kylan, and the Fears brothers with Ty first off the bench?
Watching him in warmups you can definitely see that he's been in the weight room and is no longer the tall, skinny kid he was coming out of high school. He's got a broad set of shoulders, looks like the lower body is developing a strong base, and you can see him developing the arm definition the Tomi and KJ lack. I think he'll provide some help next year as a more physical big.Would Jakstys be help inside next year, or is he more like the euro 4s?

Throw in Big Z and call it a day.Give me: Moe Odum, Jamir Watkins and Dame Sarr
Personally, I'd sub Martenelli for Watkins (and I think he might also be a more likely option)Give me: Moe Odum, Jamir Watkins and Dame Sarr
Basically Ty from 3? Come on man. Has he struggled this year? Yes , he has. But that statement just is such an exaggeration! Ty never has made a 3! I had to look up Kylans career stats. As a freshman he was 30-77, 39% a sophomore 66-174, 38%, this year dropped to 30-134, 22.4% and for his career has made 126 3s and is 33%. Boz has played great lately until last night, he rebounds and is a very solid defender. He will be starting next season and will shoot better. He is one player I'm not worried about.I agree that roster construction was an issue but the lineup you just created wouldn't even make the tournament.
There is nothing really wrong with the current players in a vacuum but there's just too much of the same thing and not enough quickness or athleticism plus very little shooting.
Also, this won't be a popular take but Boswell's inability to shoot really hurts this team and he's basically a Ty Rodgers level threat from outside at the moment. 22.4% on the year on 4 attempts per game is atrocious. I don't think he should necessarily be guaranteed a starting job next year or not be recruited over.
Ummmm….. OK you talked me into it.Personally, I'd sub Martenelli for Watkins (and I think he might also be a more likely option)
I can’t speak to what exactly the staff saw in our transfers, but from my vantage point I think the common thread was analytics. We clearly valued postional size and shooting, and physicality/toughness seemed to be a secondary concern. For whatever reason, we were never able to be a consistently good shooting team. I don’t think we get any worse looks overall than Wisconsin, but they have been north of 35% all year while we have been down around 30%. If our %’s were switched with Wisconsin, I think we are likely a top 3 seed. Was there a common thread with our bad evaluations last year? I attribute a lot of the teams struggles to a complete lack of depth. Hum. was a miss, and Booth was a bad miss. I remember some people saying Davis would be able to replace Goode's production and that was absolutely not true. Throw in the Rodgers redshirt and there's just not much past the 6th man.
6'10"How tall is he?
That's where I went to high school. Long ago, lol.
Seems that way to me also, so ething changed after that.KJ has not been the same since the forearm injury.
I watched Ty play and shoot 3s in high school. I firmly believe he could shoot 20% if he had the green light to shoot 3s.Basically Ty from 3? Come on man. Has he struggled this year? Yes , he has. 0 threes vs 126 is not the same. Ty is a career 52% FT shooter. Kylan is 79%. It sounds like your biased or lying to yourself. Come in man? Is 38 or 39% the other two years bad or impossible or maybe even more likely to happen. Did you watch the Iowa game or how well Kylan hasplayed lately. Come in man! Adios with that stuff! Lol..ILL!I watched Ty play and shoot 3s in high school. I firmly believe he could shoot 20% if he had the green light to shoot 3s.
20% is really really bad that's approaching Curbelo territory.
Thank you. If those two come back (which is not a given) that’s a lot of size.Rez is listed as 6'9, 255 lbs
Tomi is listed as 7'1, 255 lbs (mononucleosis caused him to lose some 10 lbs)
Maybe but a big piece is also there started to be way more scouting and film on him, and film against real HM teams. Certain teams made adjustments and he hasn’t been able to counter all of them.Seems that way to me also, so ething changed after that.
The problem is that our fan base, during the off-season, doesn't seem to understand this. The celebration comes with these overseas players with buildup because they're guards, exciting and we're told that they're NBA ready. They get here and they're nowhere close because while they're skilled, they are FAR behind physically.
There was, rightfully, a lot of excitement about guys like Riley, KJ and Tomi. Great talents, but just not ready physically or emotionally. They're playing like freshmen, which SHOULD be expected. I think that Brad's recruiting pitch is that we're running an NBA offense with the green light all the time with the one in, four out philosophy. That's a great recruiting tool, until you see freshmen running it against grown men.
We get pushed all over the place, especially defensively. There's no way that we're EVER going to beat a team constructed like Maryland, where we have absolutely no answers in the paint and if you double.....shooters get open looks.
We have to get older, we have to get bigger(not just height wise), we need to get FAR more physical and we have to get tougher. Sorry, but any guards coming down the lane against us need to know that they're going to pay a price. Look at what that did to us yesterday. Our kids were completely intimidated.
We need legitimate bigs badly(via portal), we need to bring some guys back for continuity (NIL) and we need to supplement the roster with what we currently have versus trying to find players all over the globe to be the "go to" guys.
