Alright, here we go, take a deep breathe everyone:

Sucky way to go out. Wanted more.

Going into next season, they want guys back-here is what's going on right now (again things can change in this day and age!!)

As of now, Kylan, Morez, and Tomi-95% or more chance to come back
Tre-80%
Jason-75%
One of Jake/Ben-60%
DGL-5%
Booth-not sure I need to say anything here
Ty-10%

NBA guys:
KJ-0%
Will-20/25% (some will disagree, but I am confident there is a slight chance here-would not get your hopes up though)

In terms of portal/euro plan, here is where we stand in time:
Dame Sarr will announce his commitment to Illinois sometime in the next month
They want a backup big (4/5), may have a couple guys visit here soon
Targeting a big time wing-Josh Dix among a couple of others
Vet guard next to Kylan-also are going to have someone visit/try to close the deal in the next week or so. Would be a big time get

Should be a fun offseason. Need to get older. They want shooting and athleticism.
Really is wild how DGL just fell off the face of the earth. Thought he’d be a solid contributor all year long.

Thanks for the estimates! Really appreciate it

Love this in general. My only question is: if we are targeting a big time wing in the portal, how does that fit with the 80% Tre White retention estimate?

bUt JOhN gRoCe years!...Incoming

Very few people on here will allow talks of accountability or comparison. I don't want Brad fired.
However, serious staff changes need to be made this off-season to bolster this program.
Can you keep going back to boosters to up the $$ every offseason when there are multiple B1G teams finishing ahead of you with less talent.
--Same could be said with teams in the S16..

that’s nice and all, and i do appreciate these updates from our insiders, but i also have next to no confidence that we have a coach who can take us deep into march. we challenged last year, and then brad thought continuing to challenge clingan was a good game plan.
no, i’m not saying fire brad, but I think it’s fair to be skeptical

I am totally excited about running it back with Tomi, MoreZilla, KB, Tre, and another portal wing/guard.

I'd rather watch Jake come off the bench for shooting spurts than Ben.

I won't watch if Hamer is an assistant coach at the University of Illinois.

If Brad wants to truly run an elite program, you absolutely 100% cannot have a video review coach and your kid as assistants.

Let's establish exactly where your goalposts are... You have little confidence in Underwood going deep into March and cite losing in the elite eight as a reason why. If we had won one more game to make it to the final four, would that have been deep into March? Or do you need a championship appearance/win?

If winning that one game to make a final four makes the difference, I hope that losing one game to the eventual (2x) champ doesn't delineate a confident you from a you lacking in confidence. Continuing to attack Clingan didn't work, but neither did any of the other coaches tactics last year, or the year prior. This would boil down to 'I have little confidence in Underwood because he couldn't beat the team no one else beat.'

If you need a championship appearance/win to have confidence, how many coaches total would you have confidence in? I would have to think it would be a low number. And of those, how many would take the Illinois job if we lost Underwood?

Does Ty Rodgers play here next year? I hope so. I was a huge skeptic of Tre White and Humrichous. Warmed up to Tre although he'd disappear every other game or every third game. Never quite warmed up to Humrichous but I think that's a byproduct of him starting when he shouldn't have been starting. That was corrected maybe too late in the season but I would've rather had Ty Rodgers.

The only guys I am confident in being back next year are Boswell, Jacktys, and Jake Davis.

Riley- gone unless he goes to the combine, gets a 2nd rd grade, and they throw lot of TSJ type money at him to come back and solidify being a 1st rounder.

KJ- gone.

Tomi- he won’t go to the NBA, but whether IL can pay him more than a Euro League team is the question. Also I think what his brother decides to do will impact if he stays in the US. He will be 22 in August.

Morez- With Tim Anderson gone and Underwood wanting shooting at all 5 positions, not sure if he is back.

DGL- middle of the season I thought he’d be back for sure. Now, I doubt it. Underwood doesn’t trust him

Ty Rodgers- gone. His guy TA is gone,BU wants shooting. He wouldn’t have redshirted if he was staying.

White- toss up. He’s been at 3 schools in 3 years. Started the season hot, was then buried on the bench, then ended the season playing a lot. So who knows.

Booth- gone.

Humrichous- I am sure he wants to come back if granted more eligibility bc it’s the only place he can make this money. Brad still I think likes him and would welcome him back.

Retention is no longer, can you guarantee starter minutes? Now it’s, can you guarantee starter NIL?

#597
I don't know Tre and haven't even seen him play in person, but my take is that he wears his emotions on his sleeve to a certain extent and that may have led to some clashes with BU. It seems like they may have both realized that they have similar traits and passion. Found some common ground, if you will and that generated some mutual respect. It sounds like Tre may have found a safe, but challenging place to call home. Or I could be full of beans. It fun to speculate though.

#598
Don't know if he's been mentioned yet, but it seems people are forgetting about Jason Jakstys. Would love to see him be in the role that Humrichous had coming off the bench...except actually make some shots consistently.
Probably because he looks like a low major player.

I want BU to stay, but since he was hired, Purdue has never missed the tourney and has 3 Sweet 16s, an Elite 8, and a Champ game.

Michigan has 3 Sweet 16s, an Elite 8, and a Champ game.

MSU has 1 Final 4 and 1 Sweet 16, maybe 2 after tonight.

UCLA has 3 Sweet 16s and a Final Four.

Oregon has 1 Final Four and 2 Sweet 16s, maybe 3 after tonight.

USC has 1 Elite 8.
Ok so he’s only done worse than 3 b1G teams that were here before this season. Hell of a lot better than Groce.

I agree with your lineup. Especially hope for Tomi. At the end of the season, Boswell and Tomi are our best players. KJ is nowhere near an NBA talent right now. Add the two incoming frosh guards and it's a pretty good place to start building a roster. Pick up Owen Freeman and we're good to go.
