The only guys I am confident in being back next year are Boswell, Jacktys, and Jake Davis.

Riley- gone unless he goes to the combine, gets a 2nd rd grade, and they throw lot of TSJ type money at him to come back and solidify being a 1st rounder.

KJ- gone.

Tomi- he won’t go to the NBA, but whether IL can pay him more than a Euro League team is the question. Also I think what his brother decides to do will impact if he stays in the US. He will be 22 in August.

Morez- With Tim Anderson gone and Underwood wanting shooting at all 5 positions, not sure if he is back.

DGL- middle of the season I thought he’d be back for sure. Now, I doubt it. Underwood doesn’t trust him

Ty Rodgers- gone. His guy TA is gone,BU wants shooting. He wouldn’t have redshirted if he was staying.

White- toss up. He’s been at 3 schools in 3 years. Started the season hot, was then buried on the bench, then ended the season playing a lot. So who knows.

Booth- gone.

Humrichous- I am sure he wants to come back if granted more eligibility bc it’s the only place he can make this money. Brad still I think likes him and would welcome him back.

Yeah, and that's a shame. He's in over his head at the B1G level, and at his age, it would be foolish to expect significant improvement. Go back to Evansville, where he belongs.

Love this in general. My only question is: if we are targeting a big time wing in the portal, how does that fit with the 80% Tre White retention estimate?

Tre can be with another offseason here. Think a Kendall Gill transformation.

Alright, here we go, take a deep breathe everyone:

Sucky way to go out. Wanted more.

Going into next season, they want guys back-here is what's going on right now (again things can change in this day and age!!)

As of now, Kylan, Morez, and Tomi-95% or more chance to come back
Tre-80%
Jason-75%
One of Jake/Ben-60%
DGL-5%
Booth-not sure I need to say anything here
Ty-10%

NBA guys:
KJ-0%
Will-20/25% (some will disagree, but I am confident there is a slight chance here-would not get your hopes up though)

In terms of portal/euro plan, here is where we stand in time:
Dame Sarr will announce his commitment to Illinois sometime in the next month
They want a backup big (4/5), may have a couple guys visit here soon
Targeting a big time wing-Josh Dix among a couple of others
Vet guard next to Kylan-also are going to have someone visit/try to close the deal in the next week or so. Would be a big time get

Should be a fun offseason. Need to get older. They want shooting and athleticism.

Pay Morez the $$ now!!
We need dudes that can play defense and rebound = Kylan and Morez cannot be the only ones!
We need a 3rd big that is as good as Rez and Tomi = Tomi's bro?
We need a couple experienced point guards with size to possess and take care of the ball = ?
Do our incoming frosh have a chance to contribute depth minutes or do they need Fletch for a year
We need to retain O, Alexander and Fletch - keep the poachers at bay
Make some staff changes - different defensive scheme will be mandatory next year
Adopt a nepotism policy and comply with it = bad optics

I want big Z. It would solve Tomi's fouling issues... After a couple of fouls, Tomi and Z swap jerseys and Tomi is back on the court... no problems with fouls

I kind of agree. I do want a big man for that role. I would take big Z but I'd prefer a guy with a bit more meat on his bones that could defend the post against TKR or someone like him and provide those fouls. Big Z would be better than what we had this year but someone not so easily moved would be better at filling a rold defending the post.

Tre can play the 4 as well. Ideally, you would have a really good top 7 and figure out rotations from there

The thing is that any decent to good big guy coming would want a certain amount of playing time. Big Z being the brother to Tomislav might be willing to settle for a diminished role so they could play together. Fletch would get Big Z whipped into shape. 40 minutes of an Ivisic would be amazing. We all saw Tomislav get tired and come up short on his 3’s in the second half. If Big Z could have taken some of his minutes in first half, he’d have hit 1 or 2 of them in second half and we probably get it within a single possession.

I am totally excited about running it back with Tomi, MoreZilla, KB, Tre, and another portal wing/guard.

I'd rather watch Jake come off the bench for shooting spurts than Ben.

I won't watch if Hamer is an assistant coach at the University of Illinois.

If Brad wants to truly run an elite program, you absolutely 100% cannot have a video review coach and your kid as assistants.

With Tomi, Boz, Morez, Tre and Davis back, we could use Big Z as a backup C, a shooting guard who can play D and shoot lights out and another wing.big guard who can handle the ball. That’s 9 solid players and fill in with the two freshmen and JJ as a project piece. We need to get older and more cohesive. Finally, as everyone has said, changes within the staff. It starts today.
