Sr has been show to be a liar, ask Piper.

The offense was best when it ran through Tomi.

Tre shot a lot of midrange shots early in the year and was very successful.

The Gibbs boy lost any desire to play. The last game he scored was the Duke game. He was really good taking the ball to the basket, but he stopped doing that and shot only 3’s. He also played zero defense.

Don’t know about Ty Rodger’s shooting. He was very good around the basket, rebounded well and played good defense.
I like Ty but seems like he missed a lot of bunnies so it was more than not being able to shoot, he missed layups too. Obviously thats not hard to get better at but I don’t think his offense was great around the basket.

Yeah, I mean, I'm dumb and I probably just need to give up and get with the times, but losing a Chicago guy who's been committed to the program since his sophomore year in high school and then having a Hawkeye come here for a visit on the same weekend feels pretty gross. I'll cheer for Dix if he comes here, but also, what the heck are we doing here, man? This isn't a pickup game. Shuffling the deck each season and just expecting people to keep caring in the same way they always have is gonna reach its limits.

It shows what coached are up against. If Morez thinks he is too good to set screens, rebound, and dunk; we are better off without him. Sounds like the dad resented the role Tomi played.
I really like Morez’ potential as a screener, rebounder, and dunker…
Not sold on him becoming a great shooter. I can make shots if I take enough. That doesn’t make it winning basketball.

Too many posts to read but this is what I am gathering…

Indy Illini Fan and DB11Headband = BU/Staff should take all the blame and really let UofI fan base down

Illini0440 = blame on both sides but Illinois had the money and plan for Year 2 to be better/different (I think this is Derek Piper for what it’s worth lol)

LvilleILL1 = Morez and his family get the blame because Illinois made all the right promises for Year 2

No matter how you cut it, it sucks. We went from having 4 returners (Tomi, Morez, Bam, and Tre (general consensus from insiders)) to now MAYBE having Bam come back. Big yikes

It amazes me how much of a leash KJ had when he made unforced errors. I do not think Morez should be shooting threes unless he is over a 30% shooter. However I am ok with a mid range shot if he followed his misses
This hits the spot. I am still confused why some of the turnover problem could not be corrected.

My limit is about reached. I’m less than impressed with Brad in games and this constant churn just makes me care less and less. My interest in the overall college game is a fraction of a decade or more ago. It’s just not compelling to watch a bunch of free agents switching every year.

According to Morez himself, he is leaving because he is “more than a rim runner and rebounder and wants to get more than just that” he also said he didn’t want to end up like Kofi. Essentially sounds like he think of himself much higher than anyone else does
You betting against him? With that motor and athleticism, I’m not. He’ll put in the work.

The part that doesn’t hold water for me is the comment about DAINJA. Part of the reason we were comfortable letting him go because we had a 4 star freshman coming in that needed minutes.

At the end of the day it's Brad and staffs job to navigate reality and put out a winning product.

I would personally struggle if my top 50 kid played behind Hum & the staff I committed to was largely gone. Piper airing laundry comes off as him trying to defend staff not doing their job.
Not at all.

Comes off to me as just a journalist explaining why he posted what he did two days ago……. which came directly from Morez’s family.

Temporary Consequences of today
1. Outrage. Check.
2. Complaints of New College Basketball yada yada yada. Check.
3. Threats of not watching anymore. Check.

Long-term consequences of today
1. Spot Open for a new mercenary
2. Desire to win a National Title grows for fans with this renewed frustration.
3. More money ponied up
4. Brad fields a competitive roster with questions about gelling, defense, and 3 point shooting due to lack of continuity.
5. All of us still here on Loyalty 2 weeks before the season starts excited about the possibilities. Why? Because it's always been about the name on the front.

Juju Reese couldn’t even shoot free throws his freshman year and look how he turned out

I believe it. BU seems to have turned offense and defense to two grad assistant types. Emulating the 4 out, shoot a ton of 3 offense making the NBA unwatchable. They gave a long leash to some players abd others were pulled for mistakes or missed shots.
There's a quote from Kofi saying that he'd like an expanded role, but Brad's only using him to win, not improve. Seems to be a common concern. It's a fair argument from both sides. Brad is here to win now, Morez is here to develop into a professional player.

#3 may not be true.
Unless Tyler is replaced, I do not see improvement in NIL.
BTW, Tomi most likely gone (NBA 2nd round)

Makes sense to me and sounds like a Tyler problem.

Lol at not wanting to end up like Kofi tho 😂
Are you suggesting that every freshman big man should just have a green light to shoot from anywhere? It’s a coaches fault?

The Kofi/Dain narrative is bunk. It’s a fabricated excuse to back out of his ICON agreement & take a bigger bag.
I get taking the money, but just tell the truth.

I view High-D1 program coaches as directors - you’ve got a budget, personnel, strategy, booster relationships, etc. If they’re not great or especially interested in some of those areas, it’s their job to put effective people in charge of those things and be responsible for the successes and the failures of the unit as a whole.

We’re never going back to the days of “student athletes” getting paid under the table and being limited by transfer rules, if you want your team to be competitive they need a coach that can adapt and thrive in the present.

So did TA have a hand in orchestrating todays clusterf*%k, is he in for a cut? What's next? This portal and limitless transfer is complete BS. If Tomi goes we have 0 bigs.
