Traore and Gonz are both better players. Not arguing your point if anything that is the point that he is now above players that are more skilled than he is just from playing on a national stage (20 quad 1 games)We really need to capitalize on KJ’s success this year with other International recruits (e.g.Sarr)
KJ is projected as a lottery pick after one year at Illinois which dramatically improved his draft stock- he’s now projected to go ahead of several players he was well behind in the eyes of the NBA
KJ has now passed:
Demin- who spent a year at BYU
Hugo Gonzales- stayed in Europe
Nolan Traore- stayed in Europe
If that is not the best commercial for going to Illinois I don’t know what is- players have gone to Arizona and UCLA in years past and killed their draft stock, we should be a go to destination for International players after this year
Unfortunately any player like Conwell who is rated at or near the top of the portal is going to be out of our reach. Illinois has not established itself as a top destination like the blue bloods and won't get any of them unless they specifically want to move closer to home like Boswell or want to come play for Brad. I like Brad and he's the coach for me as long as he wants to stay but let's be realistic. There's not many kids growing up thinking I want to go play for Brad Underwood some day. Our best bet is to keep pulling a player or two from overseas and hope another school with more money or notoriety doesn't scoop them away from us after we put them on everyone's radar. Despite some misses here and there our staff has been proven to recognize talent and potential.

I said "generally." There will always be misses here and there but if you look at the whole picture, the batting rate is north of 80%, probably more like 90%. Admittedly, there are luck components like we dodged a bullet with Storr and hit the jackpot with Domask.Ya, they hit homeruns with Booth and Hummer!
Would be good then to recruit a Brazilian to ensure that the team runs smooth.
How did we land TSJ then?Unfortunately any player like Conwell who is rated at or near the top of the portal is going to be out of our reach. I thought the same thing til this year. Our staff generally has good eyes for players so I am not surprised this happens all the time.
I believe Michigan was his first choice. Not sure. If I am not mistaken, there were some admission problems. I hope Tomi comes back. Hate to lose him to Arkansas. That would be tough. How did we land TSJ then?
I want to see a billionaire from a small school just buy a national title. Like the Ivy League schools have tons of mega rich alum. Have them make the Ivy League become the dominant power for 1 year just to show what a farce this new system is.
What?? Why?I believe Michigan was his first choice. Not sure. If I am not mistaken, there were some admission problems. I hope Tomi comes back. Hate to lose him to Arkansas. That would be tough.

Where did you hear any rumor of Tomi going to Arkansas? If anything, I thought it's more likely Big Z would come and join him here?I believe Michigan was his first choice. Not sure. Some thought Illinois missed on the best ones last year ( some of which had poor seasons), but ended up with Tomi and KJ. There is some randomness involved.Home | University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions

because Michigan wouldn't let him into school? How did we land TSJ then?
I don't pay attention to the rumor mill. Especially some of these ridiculous podcasts. That would be great if Big Z came here but until everything is wrapped up it's just speculation.Where did you hear any rumor of Tomi going to Arkansas? Yes, because the money is exponentially bigger now.is the new system a bigger farce than the old system?
Things could get hairy with Wooley Johnson and Dix on the court...
I swore I'd stay out of this![]()
