Well … This is as good of a time as any to return …

This is not a surprise to the staff … Many of you will remember the beginning of the season when I said things weren’t exactly in a great spot with Morez circle … He didn’t come here to come off the bench and he wants more money than he already agreed to …

I may not have been posting but I have still been getting information …

So is it one of those where he wants to see what else gets put on the table but ultimately there’s a decent chance he’s back or is he gone-gone?

We should not be surprised at any particular player entering the portal these days. From the player's perspective, why wouldn't he? It's free agency. Put your name out there to see how much money all the teams across the country are willing to give you.

I've never believed we'd get all of Tomi, Morez, Tre, and Kylan back. Two of them would be my guess.

Bingo. Should've paid the man. It would have been cheaper than chasing portal transfers and their millions. (Yes, Illinois will still need to pay out millions in transfers, but keeping your best players is optimal. You can't convince me that TA being gone didn't hurt Morez's relationship with this program.)

But I thought things had turned around? And had he signed his NIL agreement?

Kofi did this and came back. Dix may well do this and then go back to Iowa. So... maybe we're not dead yet.

He’s a good ball player and fun to watch, but honestly, the combination of his “circle” drama and wanting more pay…isn’t worth it in today’s free agent market.

If you look at it from the athlete's perspective, you need to look at 2 things:
1. How to maximize $$ while in college
2. Finding the right program to develop your skills for the next level (NBA, Europe, etc)

Illini have a very good pitch for prospective athletes on both accounts. When it all settles out, I think we will be fine.

Now if I'm the parent of an athlete, the portal would certainly be something I would my my child to explore. Most programs would welcome a premium player back, and the portal can extract some extra $$.
