Josh needs to institute an anti-nepotism policy immediately. And make it apply to Tyler. Either we got totally lucky and Tyler is an awesome assistant coach who is beyond his years and happens to be the head coach’s son. Or he is a wannabe hired by daddy. We all know which one it is.

I know we keep saying it over and over, but this just isn't sustainable on so many levels. You can insert a Tim Brando rant about ratings being up and people just wanting to knock college basketball, but the business of college basketball is a complete mess. Every year it becomes more and more difficult for me to re-invest. Eventually I will get to the point where it just isn't worth investing my time anymore, and I have to imagine there are NIL boosters who feel the same way.

As long as 2 key staffers, in said culture, are your kid and his good buddy there will be issues.

Should have had TA clean the locker rooms after hours if we were going to pay him anyway! There is more to this story.

What exactly would you like Brad to do? He promised the kid a bigger role, Morez got a massive amount of NIL $, and a proven winner as a coach who puts people in the NBA. if there is anyone to blame it certainly isn't Brad.
Uhhhh how about not employ his own son and a guy who should be a team manager in high major assistant positions "coordinating" offense and defense.

Thats for starters. Second they could have figured out how to get TA his raise.

Third play people who will actively contribute to winning and not a guy who they overpaid to shoot 34% from 3pt

Thats where I would start.

On Brad 100% - the funny things is, value wise what is the NIL pool that you gave Ben H, Davis and Booth? I wouldn't be surprised to see teams try to spend big on 6 guys have no depth and pray you avoid foul trouble, in a ncca tourney format your probably seeing a better ROI that way

Honestly, kind of a bummer. I like Morez and thought he could be a legitimate 4 year player(I don't necessarily think he is a high NBA draft pick).

However, I don't think he was the greatest fit next to Tomi. He's fluid and moved well but seemed like more of a center then a guy that you want guarding out on the perimeter.

Go get an athletic wing that's big enough to guard inside and surround Tomi with 4 guys that can move. I know he hasn't declared but something like a lineup of PG, Boswell, White, Jamir Watkins, and Tomi is a far more dynamic lineup.

No other way to spin the Morez news as anything but devastating.

Tomi probably the most valuable guy to retain. I think Morez was the most important.

With respect to Deon Thomas, Kofi, etc ...I believe Morez could have been the best big in school history. His potential is through the roof. I think the floor for him next season is 15 and 10. Just a monster down low and on the glass. He's the exact physical type and athlete the program has desperately needed.

So happy Ben got those minutes. Mind blowing.

Brad is going to ask the boosters to pony up for another year of Ben with Morez walking out the door …

If You Say So Wow GIF by Identity

just an economic hypothetical:

If Illinois pays up to keep TA happy last offseason, are we even having this conversation right now? Because paying TA would have been a lot cheaper than paying whatever the extra Morez is about to get on the open market.

You cannot treat his mentor and father figure the way Underwood did. Tim Anderson means the world to this big man. Karma baby! He was awesome this year, I wish him nothing but success. That's my thoughts.

This isn’t just about money … This whole thing started WAY before this week …

Morez has been committed since he was freaking 16 basically … He gets here and you freaking start Ben Hum Brick House over him ???? UNACCEPTABLE …

It’s not like we’re talking about Domask here … Ben brings absolutely nothing to the table … He’s not a Big Ten player … Yet Brad continued to trot him out there … DUMB …

This crap is on Brad …
While this is all true, a big factor limiting Morez' minutes was foul trouble. How often did he pick up has second foul midway through the first half, then #3 early in the second?
