And they keep those talented players!!! TKR turned into an All conference player his junior year.No offense to Purdue's role players but they aren't all that talented....
They have really good top end players....Kaufman-Renn, Edey, Smith
Past that they don't have any studs that are getting shopped around in the portal like Illinois does.
Illinois goes and gets guys that have tons of upside instead of just a solid role player. The role player NIL deals are probably very similar across the board compared to the top end guys who you see a wide aray of NIL being thrown their way
Not listening to and/or promoting over the guys who brought them in.Can someone explain how Purdue manages to retain all of their rotation players year over year, while we struggle to keep ANY of our contributors?
None of this matters anymore. No loyalty from kids, schools, coaches. It's the wild westZero.Loyalty.Anymore.
Speechless. Had an NIL signed for over a month. Unreal.
While I agree that Morez > BH I don’t understand what the negative impact was to Morez this season as it played out. This isn’t just about money … This whole thing started WAY before this week …
Morez has been committed since he was freaking 16 basically … He gets here and you freaking start Ben Hum Brick House over him ???? UNACCEPTABLE …
It’s not like we’re talking about Domask here … Ben brings absolutely nothing to the table … He’s not a Big Ten player … Yet Brad continued to trot him out there … DUMB …
This crap is on Brad …
But why aren't their widely adopted multi-year contract structures in place to mitigate these kinds of situations?
Nah, it wouldn't. There isn't really a magical individual contract-by-contract legal workaround here. You can't contract to say "you aren't allowed to leave and sign a contract with anyone else", and if you just say "you don't get paid anything unless you're still here in a year", players will obviously just go to where they can get paid now. This is 100% correct. Would immediately fix all of these problems.
Make no mistake, this sucks, but now you can go all in on building around Tomi next year and a bunch of money freed up.

He played major minutes and was a net positive for the team, showed what he could do and was in line for a big jump in role and $$ next year.
That’s great he was committed for two years before arriving but that obviously doesn’t mean anything anymore. Seems to be about how much $$ you can make and I’m sure there’s more to it but whatever
Good luck to the kid but quite obivious $$ trumps all else.
Brad is going to ask the boosters to pony up for another year of Ben with Morez walking out the door …

Tomi isn't a done deal until the draft process is over.So the only ‘done’ deal is bam? Tomi?
Just insane man. I try to blindly support Brad and it just gets harder and harder. Program is so close to greatness and he just can’t make the right decisions to get over the mountainSee post #1,267 …

No such thing in this day and ageSo the only ‘done’ deal is bam? Tomi?
At this point is there ever going to be "done" deal.So the only ‘done’ deal is bam? Tomi?
I mean DB isn't wrong that Hum had no business on the court. Outside of 1 game where he was en feugo he was a negative player.Respectfully, they were prepared to start him and give him seven figures next season after he started a crap ton of games AS A FRESHMAN BIG.
