Too many posts to read but this is what I am gathering…

Indy Illini Fan and DB11Headband = BU/Staff should take all the blame and really let UofI fan base down

Illini0440 = blame on both sides but Illinois had the money and plan for Year 2 to be better/different (I think this is Derek Piper for what it’s worth lol)

LvilleILL1 = Morez and his family get the blame because Illinois made all the right promises for Year 2

No matter how you cut it, it sucks. We went from having 4 returners (Tomi, Morez, Bam, and Tre (general consensus from insiders)) to now MAYBE having Bam come back. Big yikes
All in one day, what does that tell you?

Dain had no problem scoring the ball in the B10. He actually shot it better at 67% from the field 2 years ago than this year! He avg 6pt in 11 minutes a game. His per 40 numbers were solid. Dain was smart to leave. His issue was our defensive scheme. Dain could really score and was exactly the type of guy we couldn't stop this season down low.
Like I said it was matchup dependent. Dain wasn't really a great fit for the offense but he also struggled against bigger centers like Cliff, Edey, etc.

He said that is not all he can do. He didn't say he didn't want to do those things. Kofi couldn't make the league because he wasn't allowed to shoot. Why would he stay?

I love this place lol always fun to drink a bourbon and read the craziness.

Rez thinks he can shoot 3s and wanted the green light tomi had? Get out of here, are you crazy? We don't make the tournament if that was the case. You'd rather have that next year? Worth it to keep someone that doesn't care about winning and only cares about themselves?

It's a different world and at the end of the day this staff has made 5(6) straight and won some big ten titles. Have faith they will put a good team together again and stop caring about players. That's not how it works anymore. Stop getting attached.
That's fine if it's true, but stop going after freshman and first year euros then. You need mentally tough cbb players and that only comes with experience in cbb. KJ did not have that this year, and personally doesn't need it to get to the league - but our program needs it.

You still need a name from this century

So, Morez's dad is this generations IndyOldSchool? Everything is fine, good night? (Or whatever the phrase was with IDKWTI's dad before he bailed.)

I miss the days where we could hope to find a diamond in the rough with high school recruiting. Now that’s only seems possible with international guys. I know the game has changed but I’m forever going to be salty when a kid from Illinois pops up with blue blood offers after spending time in a mid major program.

At what point does Whitman sit Underwood down and ask him why he can’t retain talent?

In the corporate world, a manager with this type of retention issue would be receiving pretty direct feedback and coaching about this issue.
Welcome to the portal where there’s literally thousands of players who entered this year. It’s a record by miles. Times are changing and are changing very fast

So? Talent retention is important, as we learned this year.

They have an offer out to Will.
I am not getting my hopes up on this one as you and multiple other people
I trust have said he’s gone , but are the coaches hopeful? What percent do they think they have with the offer they made? Is the offer because they now know Sarr is slipping away?

By bring it. You mean donors money right? Because he can’t keep it together. He continues to take top 10 money in NIL and under perform

I've gone through all the stages in a quick fashion. Good bye Rez. Let's get another 6-8 player who is close to the rebounder Rez was and the shooter that Rez thinks he is and is demanding money for. That person is out there. He is right on that playing the 5 doesn't help him, but like Ty, he just doesn't have the skill set to get him to the next level. The development problem didn't happen here but was in HS and AAU.

Morez wants to be Bam Adebayo. Or Derik Queen. And he doesn’t see the staff getting him there

If this is real then LOL “I don’t want to end up like Kofi”. God forbid you end up an all American
Kofi is Playing in Japan. What his skill set is and what the coaches wanted him to be could very well be way different. Our coaches haven’t been all that great at talent evaluation.

This sicks but what are you going to do? Kid made a decision for himself, no shame in that game. If anything BU has taught me it's that we just need to trust the process. This is the way college ball is now. Reload and reset. He has done it for years now and has been successful. In brad we trust!

When the donors get tired of his sales pitch of culture, every day guys, family, toughness and whatever else it is he’s selling. That’s when.
