Morez talking about his skill set...yet when I watched his high school highlights it was a lot of what we saw this year: dunks, layups, blocked shots, and rebounds. I do remember there being jumpers and 3-pointers but they were few and far between everything else.

35+ pages whining about an athletic dude that showed he hustled. He was never a dominant force on offense and got absolutely worked on defense. Did he make a few highlight plays? Sure. But we can easily get a replacement from the portal who will be a better asset on both ends of the court…

Later Rez, good luck.

Based off of what. Yall need to stop with this. One 10 win season doesn't make you a football school. Gonna take a LOT more than that.

A lot of people are saying to trust the staff, but isn’t this the same staff that spent a ton of money on Ben and Booth last year?

It’s becoming clear that the players, and I’m assuming the assistants who left, have little to no respect for TU and Hamer, yet BU is stubbornly sticking with them.

Now, he’s trying to re-sign Ben, and it’s almost comical at this point. It just seems like BU is stubbornly trying to prove himself right, even if it means going against the tide.

If the Johnsons’ think that Ty can shoot, I really question their basketball knowledge/judgement.

And if you aren't on X? Don't think I've EVER clicked on a post on Twitter and had it take me to the latest posts. Clicked on his name in that link and it has nothing since May 24,
2020....

Continuity in the program matters. That's clear. No one will be replaced "just fine" in a program that struggles to retain as many players as this one does.
I’m watching Auburn and Michigan right now. I’m too lazy to look it all up but how many of the guys getting minutes do you think started at Auburn or Michigan?

You want continuity, go watch you local high school team. Most of those guys come back every year.

While Purdue is playing in the sweet 16 once again while we are watching. This is not a good take. Purdue has a much better bench coach and personality manager in Painter. I’d take Painter any day over Brad.

No. He’s going to Texas to follow Sean Miller. Just click bait preying on Illini fans after we lost a top 20 last year high school player who’s wanted to come here since age 15.

It’s worth the effort to copy and paste in, so here you go! All credit here to Meyers for a reasonable, respectful message that reflects the loyalty many of us wish we were seeing in the portal era and great advice for Morez and all other players considering where the grass might be greener.
Any chance of a synopsis for folks without an X account?
Before I send this group of tweets.. This has absolutely nothing to do with any of the players that have come and gone from the University of Illinois basketball program. I am speaking strictly from my experience when I was at school there.

I am very thankful that I went from virtually unknown, to a fairly highly recruited high school basketball player. But I’ll tell you this.. the only school I was waiting on was the University of Illinois. It was my dream to play for the Illini, and I’m so grateful that I did.

Now.. I have absolutely no idea what the NIL is like, what a transfer portal is like, what it’s like to hire an agent and make so much money in college.. I truly don’t. Because I didn’t experience it. I also think it’s great that players are being compensated.

Here’s the part I really wanted to get to.. My freshman year.. after being highly recruited.. I stunk to be honest.. I wasn’t strong enough, I wasn’t used to the physicality of Big Ten basketball, and we had two senior bigs that were darn good college basketball players.

After my freshman season.. I cried in Coach Weber’s office for the entire 1hr post season review of my season. I was embarrassed, I didn’t think I was good enough to play at U of I, and I had just averaged 8.2 minutes. 2.1 points. 1.2 points.. awful.

I just flat out had to look in the mirror, realize how much harder I needed to work than I already was, get stronger, and actually get better at basketball. No finger pointing, no blaming everyone else around me.. it was up to me to figure it out, and I’m glad I did.

I am SO grateful for my two years at University of Illinois. What an awesome school. Great academics, great basketball program with rich tradition, fun college campus, close to home, representing the state of Illinois, and I met the love of my life.

All in all - I am not calling anybody out. I’m simply saying that I wish these young men would sometimes find it from deep within to be more loyal, to take accountability if they don’t play the way they know (and fans, and coaches, etc) know they can play, and not just leave.

Okay, I’ll be done now. To the University of Illinois, Illini fans, Champaign, Robinson, the whole state of Illinois , and anyone who ever believed in this small town kid.. thank you. And thank you for never giving up on me. I love you all 🤠🤝🔸🔹
