It does for Morez, and if he goes to Memphis he'll probably dominate the conference. For Tre White it's a little different because he's a mercenary.

He averaged 10 points a game, shot 50% from 2 point land, 33% from 3, and he played good defense. But hey. We didn't want him anyway.

Anyone getting upset with BU or these players are short-sighted, lack the ability to put themselves in someone other's shoes, have no financial skills management and put their own need to be entertained up against life's reality.

There are VERY few of these guys that will play in the NBA and make millions. When you take ALL of the transfers into consideration, we're talking about less than 1%.

Now, let's just be honest. Our players didn't come here for an engineering or finance degree. Players aren't going to Michigan for a law degree. The value of the scholarship being the driver of a great education and job placement for life after basketball is really more of a focal at the mid major level and obviously some at the high major level, who don't play. Those guys aren't getting a bunch of money thrown at them and they are fully aware that the value of the degree matters.

A LOT of these guys have a four year earning period, which sets them up and gets them off to a good life start. There is not ONE parent here that if school X offered $750,000, but school Y offered $2,000,000 wouldn't be sending their kid to school Y. Not one, so quit the hypocritical BS. If Morez can put $6,000,000 in the bank over the next three years versus $2,250,000.....he would be an idiot not to do it.

People want to bury Brad, bury the player's loyalty and come up with the offensive game plan being THE driving force. Is it a consideration because they feel that a different offense enhances their chances at getting to the NBA? Absolutely, but that's all things(money) being equal.

How many people actually believe that guys like KJ, TI, Riley, etc. had dreams of leaving beautiful areas of the world to live in central Illinois for 2 years? That's ridiculous and obviously not the case. It's money and it's the promise to be the focus to get to the NBA in one year. You don't think our offense, which gave everyone the green light to shoot the ball(NBA offense), was a huge recruiting tool? Of course it was.

Does anyone really believe that Sarr wouldn't want to come here to enjoy the scent of the south farms? No, he'd come here for a major payday and a green light to launch.

Morez, is making a ton of money and will be given the chance to square up and let it fly. That's his one and only shot to ever be sniffed by a pro team. That said, does everything remember how we had no depth on the paint? We had Ben as a big coming off the bench. That wasn't good for anybody. Knowing that and getting information that our only physical big wants to play outside of the paint.....nobody sees that as a problem? Morez's biggest value to our roster was staying in the lane, getting offensive rebounds, keeping plays alive and finishing with putbacks. He doesn't want to do that anymore. Well, that does us NO good and weakens what we had. At that point, why not just bring Ty back at half the price?

Some(not close to all) of the people here need to grow up and think things through before saying ridiculous things. The portal rules and NIL is what it is. It's driven by money and guys who have a four year window to max out on profits.....unless they have some family wealth, they'd be absolutely stupid to not start a bidding war. These coaches know this and have to cover their butts.

Brad is going to put a good team together by ripping off another team's players, that fix gaps and are comfortable in roles. That's why bringing Ben back makes sense. If he's cool being 3rd off the bench, that's a perfect fit. If we're at a point where he's starting, it's a failure.

It's easy to be fans and play with someone else's money and their dreams. It's also easy to sit back and criticize the coach for not agreeing to everything every player wants.

Step off the ledge, take the fan hat off and quit acting like ANYONE here can put themselves in the players and coaches positions. It's easy to sit in the cheap seats and criticize when the millions aren't underneath your noses.

I applaud you for writing all of this to carry water for Brad but it’s time to take a step back and do a holistic evaluation of his ability to lead the program. You wrote all of that as an excuse that players are leaving for $$ but why does Illinois lead that category? Morez left because he wanted to expand his game, but what about Tre? What about the dozen of players left before them? What are the excuses there? Why aren’t players at MSU and Purdue leaving for more bags? If player retention and building a good system and scheme doesn’t matter anymore because players are going to leave for money then why are we paying Brad top coach money?

BU is one of the highest paid coaches in NCAA (14th as of this year). Coaches paid at or above his scale are either good in game coaches, able to bring in top recruits consistently, build a sustainable program that had been able to control transfers thus far.

That should have been a hard policy after the Lovie nepotism.

In general, a coach's son better have experience coaching before being elevated into a major assistant role under him/her at a major job. If not, you risk causing a cultural rift. In Tyler's case, he is barely older than many of the players he is coaching. Who could have foreseen issues between him and players? It is amazing that there are some fans that do not have an issue with Tyler being an assistant coach here.

I fully believe our talent has led to good offense ratings in the last two years, compared to offensive schematics from Tyler. Our defense has been overly pathetic too.

Tyler and Hamer must be relieved of their duties before it is too late. Once donor money dries up, it is over for Brad. Are those two worth risking your job? If so, it says a lot about Brad and stubborness.

Sometimes it’s about coaching changes, playing time, usage but sometimes it’s about money especially as for incoming transfers at top programs. If you are moving down the ladder then often it’s about playing time.

This board is moronic. What’s being thrown around is nowhere near the truth. People running with twitter rumors and making up their own to justify their feelings. It’s crazy. Morez SIGNED a new NIL deal late February. 900k….his dad continued to negotiate behind Illinois back and got “offers” in the 2 mil range for Morez. Great. Go get your 2 mil. Don’t throw coaches and former players under the bus to try and make it look like that’s why you’re leaving. Sorry they didn’t let your son shoot 3’s and run the offense through I’m like they did Tomi when that’s not his game. Kylan and Tomi have always been priority 1a and 1b this offseason. They would’ve loved to have Tre back with him being the 6th ish guy off the bench. He didn’t like that whatever it is what it is. That being said Illini0440 out. Good luck everyone. Can’t take the dumba$$ posts on here from people who have no idea what’s actually going on and need to make something up to validate their feelings towards things.

Or these "people" are passionate fans of the program and are displeased with the fact that we're paying top 10 dollars to our basketball coach but haven't seen top 10 results. And these "people" are frustrated with news that the negative ingredients of our program are evidently not going anywhere, namely two notable assistant coaches who, in these "people's" opinion, have no business being a part of our basketball program. And as a result, next year doesn't look too good for top ten results either. But hey. Perspectives. If you're just looking for your own, then a discussion board probably isn't the right locale.

No nba first rounders developed by Brad. Ayo a second rounder-highly touted coming in. TSJ not developed here. Bret has done real work developing Lovie’s players then his to some significant NFL stature. So a recruit goes to Illinois football knowing he’s got a decent chance developing into NFL talent. Illinois basketball not so much. And that kind of thing makes up for less NIL. Then there’s the not getting along with all players great (Tre), favoring mediocre players like Ben, nepotism, and lack of real overall success on the court. The program needs energy and a turnaround. Morez’ decision to transfer actually a no brainer.
