I don’t love that Ben seems likely to come back. But if he’s coming back, then I hope there’s a serious discussion about his role and the price we are paying….

You said it during the season in post game threads... this isn't message board nonsense posting after the fact.

Ben should NEVER have played more than him.

And Tyler rubbing guys the wrong way is not even close to a rumor either so I respect 0440 but these two things are just facts.
“Facts” because I said so. Ok

I'm going to be taking a break as well. Got a nasty dm from someone in here that put it over the top. We will be fine, I'll see ya'll in a bit.
We can all have civil disagreements with direction of team, but this behavior is unacceptable.

Edit: Also please report to Dan. Those individuals should be permanently banned from site. We all appreciate info that those of you close to the program share (even if we do not agree at times). Keyboard warriors are the problem with society today.

Last thing I will say before I head out for a bit-the Humrichous Morez thing is hilarious. Several power 4 schools were heavy in pursuit on Ben. I don't blame Brad for playing him a bit considering how much he paid him and how the dude shot in practice leading up to the season. Still was one of our best 3 point shooters and played decent defense down the stretch. No, I am not Ben's biggest fan. But Morez played a crap ton for a freshman big on a team that had a stud center. They did everything they could to get him back the last week and it still wasn't enough. Lastly, Hamer needs to go, but the Tyler thing is a complete cop out and a huge sham.

I just wish there were some specifics to all this Tyler stuff. Is TU a jerk and stirs crap, or does he yell at fragile/entitled athletes?

Most freshman won't. Senior morez that averages 18 and 14. Shooting 28% from 3 and 50% from the field with 1.8 bpg and 2 apg

Look, the situation I am completely mystified by is Hamer. Should Tyler be an assistant coach at the University of Illinois? Of course not. Do I like it? Hell no. Should he be, at a bare minimum, be “repurposed”? Yes. However, the head coach is his dad and we have nepotism run amok. He’s taking care of his son, and he obviously isn’t going to fire him. It SHOULDN’T be happening and it pisses me off, but I understand it on some level.

I don’t get the Zach Hamer thing AT ALL. He also has done NOTHING to earn his position…. Underwood and he aren’t related. The defense the last two years has been a joke, and he brings as much as I do to recruiting.

This has been stated repeatedly on this board, but you don’t promote a literal nobody video coordinator and give him the keys to your defensive game plans. He should have been fired at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Period.

It’s just really weird. No rationale for him being on the staff at all, much less having as much power as he does.

According to the beat writer who said this, not really...

Imo it's why nobody who has brought it up has bothered to divulge what the actual rumor was... because it's a big nothing burger
Isn’t the usual saying where there’s smoke there’s fire. I get some leave for $$$ but let’s take DGL for example here. By all accounts early season he showed glimpses and was really a ball of energy off the bench and facilitated change when we were down. And then poof. He was down and out. Something happened. He lost his spark for sure. And I think that hurt us a ton

I'm not sure anyone blames him for playing Ben a lot early in the season. It's his refusal to alter his role throughout the season when it was clear he wasn't going to be the deadeye shooter that was expected that annoyed most of us.

Okay, actually, I'm sure someone blames him for the whole thing, but not the majority.
