I think everyone here needs to take a breath and realize in the new NIL era it's about resources and we have plenty of them. I have zero doubt we will have a competent team in November. The million dollar question is are we going to have a top 10-15 team? I'm not sure we will (this isn't me saying we won't), but I'm not sure sure losing Tre or Morez is going to significantly move the needle in either direction. Both are really good players that play a role, but is either irreplaceable?

I mean, I do think the chemistry of playing together over an extended period of time is kind of irreplaceable and what can take a good team and make it great. Especially in college where practice time is capped.

Without that, we'll probably be left with what we had this year. Yes, a talented team, but one that will experience serious growing pains and will leave us hoping things will finally click into place at the right time. And, hey, it very well might. But damn, I'd feel more confident going in if we were bringing back a core group.

The way I would score things, we've had one great coach at this program since the 1970s. I have no knowledge of earlier times than that. The one great coach was only here 3 years though, and so didn't accomplish very much. Who? Self.

Henson, Kruger, and Underwood are all very good coaches.

Enviable is quite a reasonable thing. I am certain that Underwood is shooting for substantially more than that. So are some other folks, and have been for far longer than simply "before Brad Underwood."

I made it. I made it. OK, didn’t read every post or even go to every page, but I read quite a bit. One thing I found a little amusing is all the people getting bent out of shape about Morez’s (or was it his dad’s) comments about Kofi and Dain. He wasn’t trying to denigrate them nor their Illini careers. He was merely saying that he wanted the opportunity to develop and use other offensive skills from beyond 3 feet. Now that could have been said merely to offer up another reason beyond mo’ money please. But regardless, I think people running to protect the legacy of Kofi is amusing. Morez should be thinking about his career. Just as BU and staff should be looking to run their offense as efficiently as possible (through Tomi).

Sorry to see Morez leave. Hope he finds a landing spot where he can develop and use expanded offensive skills that he wants to. Not sure he’ll find such a place though. He might get more money and he might get a promise of an expanded offensive role. Not sure the promise will turn into reality once the sneaker rubber hits the court in games though.

#3– Freak player that turned defense into offense via 10-12 points a game by blitzing teams in transition. Both getting to the rim and the sheer amount of FTs he shot.

#15– Off Reb rate hid a myriad of problems
And Phil Jackson was a bad coach actually because he won all 11 of his titles with either Jordan or Kobe.

you can literally do this for every top offense
#1 Duke - Cooper Flagg, generational talent - duh
#2 Florida - Walter Clayton, best closer in CBB - duh

The most important factor in winning is players. Skill, size, athleticism, character. Being pedantic is quite easy, for me. :)

I'm not making fun of either of you at all, but this right here is why message boards are undefeated.

Were all glued to where 18-22 year olds will attend college next, 108 pages in, and someone posting in this mess on a Saturday afternoon tells someone else also posting in this mess to get some fresh air.

I love it.
Just yesterday I literally spent 30 minutes sitting on the middle of a swamp reading through this thread, fresh air does not stop the infection

Freak player who developed greatly from his first year here to his second.
