Core Four down to Tandem Two. While the players deserve their piece of the pie the new era of college ball is messed up.
This is part of the reason Humrichous gets so much hate. No one knows the guy. No one has any time invested in him. No one watched his high school games getting excited about seeing him in orange and blue. No one has seem him develop in the program. He's just a guy who is now on the team who didn't perform at the level people expected.

Trent Frazier definitely took a step back his Jr year after great Fr. and Soph campaigns. While there was certainly frustration, no one was on Trent's case because we'd already developed an affinity for him. If these kids are going to bounce from school to school, then they need to accept that fact that they need to perform and that fan support isn't necessarily just handed out for free.

Podz is an anomoly. Statistically Podz is at the -3 std dev 2 percentile level.

Dancing Bear ciao back to you. Enjoyed your time in Champaign. Good luck to you in your pro career

In my opinion, Frazier didn’t take a step back. He deferred to team needs and took a different role. Everyone knew Ayo was the new alpha in town

I’d say Dain’s issue was on the defensive end , especially when there was screening action out front. He was a sieve. I thought he was an asset on offense. I doubt how he is used on offense any differently than he was in CU.

Do you all remember last year? We were SURE certain players were coming. One even received the secret handshake in a hotel room and went elsewhere. Then we started signing a bunch of midmajors that no one had heard of. Plus, a player that had bounced around from team to team. Guys began leaving in droves. One even went to Bloomington ... ugh,

By May, we were all pulling what was left of our hair out, wondering what the heck was going on. I mean, weren't we big game hunting for when guys dropped out before the NBA draft? We didn't sign any of them.

I was convinced Kylan might be the only Big Ten-level player transferring in.

Then, three guys appeared and saved the day.

My point is that this will probably look like the wheels are coming off when we sign some head scratches and miss on other sure things. But someway, somehow we'll put a team together, and come June, we'll all be dreaming of a Final Four.

What happens if Ben comes back and shoots 45% from 3? Will everyone still hate the young man for Brad wanting him back?
Not likely, but he would still be valuable if he shot 40% or above which is possible if he stopped rushing his shots and moved in from firing away from 30 ft. He has a great stroke, but those two aspects of his play hurt his percentage. Also, he really did improve on defense and rebounding over the season, but effectively guarding quick guys on the perimeter will never happen. Good guy to have on the bench, but not for 30 min. per game.

Actual facts and data points being challenged with spin/excuses
Here is the thing: if Tyler does not have the respect of the players, it does not matter how good he is at offensive gameplanning. We can throw out numbers suggesting the offense is great with him in charge of offense, but if he is a source of turmoil in the locker room, then he needs to be demoted or sent to a different program to develop. I am not saying Tyler is a bad coach, but the appearance of nepotism (especially if players perceive that), and being only a few years older than the players, can definitely present unnecessary challenges. I believe Tyler would benefit greatly coaching a couple years away from his Dad before coming back here.

Culture wins championships, and we are lacking in that department at the moment.

Why do you say he has better pro potential? Don't disagree. Just wondering the differences you see.
From my understanding, he’s a much “bouncier” athlete. Another reason is he’s much newer to the game, only started at 15. Ton of room to grow as a player and he’s been rapidly improving

He went fom 40% to 30% from 3. He went from 41% to 33% from the field. Dropped 4 ppg. Sure, Ayo was coming into his own, but that was Ayo's 2nd year. He only increased his scoring by 3 ppg and only took 30 more shots than the prior year. Trent just had a bad shooting season.

You are right (see Lovie Smith). By Josh allowing nepotism to occur it puts a wedge in the door making it easier for someone right/wrong to push that door wide open for accusations/allegations to be leveraged against the program. Tyler might be awesome, but let him be awesome somewhere else to earn those stripes. Brad has enough connections to help him. Quit being a helicopter parent Brad.

Huh? Career low FG% of 32.7% (down 8.5% points from previous year), career low 3pt% of 30.9 (down 9.5), career low in assists, steals and points. Yes, his role changed with Ayo, but those stats are basically the definition of a step back.

1. Boswell
2. Conwell
3. Dix
4. Sarr
5. Tomi

6. Ty
7. Humer
8. Jake Davis

This fits what Underwood / Tyler want and believe from an offensive perspective. It makes sense with shooting and positional size. Which Underwood constantly says. I don’t hate it at all. Defense is a worry but we will see.
Well, for certain, this will not happen......simply because it was posted in March. If it was June 15th, there would be an outside chance. Would be an interesting bunch though....especially with another tough big.

For sure.. but if I recall correctly Trent was also working a lot harder on D

If we need anything to feel better about, the Big East POTY entering the portal due to ‘coaching decisions and fanbase support’ may help. Imagine this board if that happened here.

Luis is going to the NBA draft.
