Thers's another player in the transfer portal that I think would be an excellent addition to the Illini. He's 6'3" 195-pound Sophomore Guard Josh Pascarelli. He averaged 15.9/ 3.6/2.3 this past season, while shooting 44.8% on FGs (including 39.3% on 3s) and 76.8% on FTs. I don't know a whole lot about this kid (I like that he's only a Sophomore), but it looks to me like he could be our backup PG next season, or maybe even play alongside Kylan Boswell. Do any of you know much about this player? Are we interested? What kind of money would it take to get a Josh Pascarelli transfer to Illinois?

Just dropping some players I think are interesting that I haven't seen discussed. Thanks for all the insider info and discussion (not the nasty DMS) on here everyone, I know it gets tense but in the end we all want the Illini to succeed.

Guards
-Had two 30+ and a 40pt game this year - Notable games: 20pts vs Oregon, 16pts vs BYU, 31pts 6as vs CSU, 40pts and 16pts vs UCSD

-Notable games: 15pts vs TTU, 21pts vs BYU, 26pts vs CSU, 22pts vs UNM, 21pts vs SDSU

Backup Guards?
-10+ points in 29 of 34 games - Notable games: 18pts vs Bryant, 13pts 12reb vs Utah St, 24pts vs Prov, 20pts 8reb 4as & 19pts 9reb 4as vs VCU, 18pts 7as 5reb vs Dayton

-10+ points in 25 of 32 games - Notable games: 16pts vs Lip, 14pts/4-7 on 3's & 21pts/3-7 on 3's vs Dayton, 10pts 5as vs VCU

Forwards
-Had five 30+point games this year - Notable games: 16pts vs Ark, 17pts vs UK, 18pts vs Iowa St

-Had four 30+point games this year - Notable games: 35pts/9-11 on 3's, 27pts/4-6 on 3's vs Bryant, 30pts/7-11 on 3's vs Yale

*edit* while typing this I saw we might be getting Sarr announcement and maybe Dix so I'm not saying these guys would fit, just brainstorming players. Have a good night everyone.

Sorry, I disagree. Not completely but there is a reason. If you are a soph like DGL and likely to get key minutes the next two years it may be a huge mistake. Entering early especially allows the staff to plan on replacing you...and if you have not shown consistency every game, as in DGL's case, you may find yourself forced to settle for a program with a coach, teammates, scheme, or catering service that is a poor fit.

There is also the fact that the school has no responsibility to hold a scholarship for you....and that happens to dozens of players who go without one offer every year. Entering the portal does not come without its downfalls, but for the top players who can find a home quickly and be better rewarded, it is a positive thing. But not that way for everyone. It is a big gamble for those who have great relationships with their coach and fans.

No talk at all about our two freshmen coming in. Looks like we two good players coming. Let’s see what happens.

I hope, but have no idea due to no posting of Will Riley's thoughts on his frosh season in C-U, that he saw the progress he made, learned what he could do, and that with a summer getting Fletched along with a successful portal season, he could truly enjoy his next season of college ball, challenge for a national title, all while becoming a lottery pick. I just cannot see him doing anything but bench time in the NBA like TSJr. who is much more productive at both ends almost purely due to physical and mental maturity along with honing his skills.

But I will not say he definitely should do anything, just my personal view. I certainly enjoyed my college years as an athlete as much as anyone and would not trade them for an early professional career, especially if I was being paid well.

There seems to be a ghost on this team of which no one has any knowledge, especially me. But having seen JJ play a bit in scrimmages and HS highlights, he runs pretty good, can finish, and has a good looking jumper. I am sure he is not planning to continue his career as a cheerleader in uniform. Can anyone tell us about his progress and future as an Illini? He is a big and he can shoot, but is the game slowing down for him and can he bang or guard anyone?
