Remember, we aspire to get more athletic! If Will slips out of the guaranteed money range, we had better pony up!

BTW, I hope Ty returns, because we need that lockdown D.

Only schools I've heard from Morez is Wisconsin and Michigan. I'm sure others are involved, but is he wanting to stay in B10, hoping to stick it to Illinois?

Very likely your 6th man next season unless something changes, the staff loves this kid.

I feel good about four different guys right now. Not gif time yet, but nearing it with a couple.
I’m not high on Sellers. Word is he only entered the portal because he was scared of playing Oregon State in Crown today. Doesn’t sound like an EDG to me.

We are in a good spot for Dix right now. Last I heard it wasn't done, need to beat out IU, but in a good spot. They really want him.
Sellers reminds me of a more athletic Plummer but a slightly worse shooter. Would be a GREAT add. A veteran as well, which we need.

Lendeborg would be an insane get, instantly best player on the team IMO, easily a first-team big ten contender. Given how little basketball he’s actually played, and the upside he’s shown, especially at the end of last season, he seems like a perfect target for NBA teams in the 2nd round of the draft. I’d assume our sell is we can give you more than you’ll make next year and an opportunity to solidify first round status.

Still, I can’t see him coming back to college for less than multiple millions, and with how many guys we seem to be targeting that are reportedly ready to commit soon, sure seems like we’d run out of resources before a potential NBA prospect is ready to commit to a school. Think our only hope is if he’s got his mind set on 1 more year of college, and I think we’d lose out on multiple smaller targets to get him, but he’d be worth it.

I know there's been a lot of hand-wringing (and jokes) over losing johnson and adding Dix (insert jokes here) but for what it's worth Dix is currently 6th on the Atheltic's top 40 transfers and Morez is nowhere to be found.
24/7 has them #5 and #25 respectively.

I totally agree with you. I’m a retention first person but Brad doesn’t retain his players. Brad is who he is and he has a very low player retention rate in his tenure at Illinois. Now we are forced to live and die by the transfer portal. It is what it is. This is the position Illinois basketball is in. When you live and die by the transfer portal you better hit on every commit. We missed on Booth and Ben Humrichous .Jake Davis is just ok . Tre White was mediocre. Kylan is good. If Booth and Ben were who Brad thought they were last season would have turned out differently . High Retention of players is never going to happen at Illinois under Brad Underwood . Booth , Morez , Tre White gone KJ and Will Riley NBA Draft. That’s half your team right now. Tre White , KJ , Will Riley is most of your offensive production gone. Where is the offense going to come from next season? We need top talent from the Transfer Portal

Great to hear - I agree, Sellers would be a great fit as a senior guard off the bench who can handle it and shoot it

Any hints on the second big we are closing in on that was mentioned yesterday? I assume it's not Yaxel given he's got a lot of big programs in pursuit and he's going through the NBA process as well

My concern is that prices only tend to go up as teams become more desperate towards the end of the portal season.
That works both ways to be quite honest. I am sure Brad has his priority adds and some price tags will be high regardless but others (especially role players seeking bigger roles) may drop depending on who goes and who doesnt.

Would not be too concerned in general until the big ones come off the board. This transfer cycle has a ton of high impact guys.

Lets just hope Sarr (and Big Z) gets locked up in the very near future and we can continue to build the bench.

I wonder about the Puerto Rico connection. Isn't OA the man there?
