With the shocking Morez transfer news, is it a guarantee Kylan is staying?

Possible we're looking at a Sarr Dix Sellers backcourt by the time we're finished?

I'm not in the same circles as Indy - I am more on the donor side. (So I can be more open and blunt)

Side note - 99% of what Indy says is spot on. Dudes plugged in.

If Morez goes to a big ten team, especially Michigan.. I will not be rooting for any type of success for him.. He becomes the "enemy". Him playing 1 year of basketball here doesn't keep him from the traitor tag. Only one that get that is Coleman. All other transfers who left the program after 2 or less years.. Good luck to them, but 100% NO not best wishes.
Goode is cool too,got his degree in 3 years

Makes me sad to see posts bashing Morez. On a team that some called soft, he seemed to me to be the opposite. The commitment was huge, he played here and arguably got fewer minutes than he deserved.

The better your players, the more you should expect them to test the portal. No one likes it, but retaining the best guys got a lot harder with NIL. I think until there's some friction for moving teams (and I've not seen a workable idea to do that), this will get worse. Not blaming the players for that.

According to everyone Illinois was second in NIL behind Indiana last season. Illinois has the money to pay Morez whatever he wants . We can match anything that any school is willing to pay Morez. The Problem is Brad Underwood only wants to pay Morez a certain amount and wants to use him the way he wants to. That’s my problem with Brad . He doesn’t fight for players. He’s stubborn and has a take it or leave it attitude. You can’t let Morez Mr Basketball Illinois go to Michigan . Morez is a Chicago kid that’s been committed to Illinois since his sophomore year of high school . If Morez goes to Michigan, Kentucky, Alabama etc and dominates and becomes an All American and NBA draft pick I will never forgive Underwood . If Tyler Underwood was the issue then that is unacceptable. You don’t let Morez walk because of Tyler Underwood and not wanting to pay him more money.

Side note: Man I miss Harmon. SO underappreciated.

Last April, at the Spring Football game, NIL had a pregame meet the players with Justin, Ty, and Coleman. I got a chance to talk with Justin for a few minutes. I said that we really enjoyed watching how hard he played, and I said thank you for coming to IL. His eyes welled up with tears, and he said, “It was one of the best decisions of my life. I love it here.” He was a class act, and he represented Illinois well. I’ll always appreciate his efforts.

Just giving illinois the middle finger. If he ends up at any big ten school it's a joke. Can't wait to see which coach is going to give him the green light for outside shooting. Will he cry and Transfer again if he shoots bricks and hairballs? No loyalty from players is sad to see. Parents are doing a great job of raising kids.
I think it’s fair that they behave the way the rules allow them to behave to financially benefit themselves.

But they also deserve to get booed when they play poorly. They’re no longer student athletes anymore. Just professionals who get cheered when they win and booed when they lose. They set that standard.

I’m getting the feeling top Transfer Portal players don’t want to play for Brad Underwood. The Brad fanboys can hate on me all you want but I don’t want the leftovers in the portal players like Carey Booth , Ben Humrichous, Jake Davis , We got lucky with Marcus Domask. Dix and maybe Big Z is not going to cut it. I would take Morez over anyone we could get in the Transfer Portal. Brad didn’t fight hard enough for Morez . If Morez wanted 1.5 million you find a way to pay him 1.5 million. Brad’s stubbornness is insufferable. You just don’t let a player like Morez walk. If it was Bret Bielema trying to get Morez to stay Bret would have slept outside of Morez’s house if he had to.No way Bret would have let Morez get away

On the other hand, we bash Michigan players and coaches all the time. If Morez chooses to leave Illinois for UM then he better be ready for the bashing heading his way.

For those not aware, Sarr is playing in the Nike Hoops Summit April 12th, for the world team. The U.S. team has a lot of the top class of 2025 talent - so it will be a good measuring stick for sure, hopefully he's an Illini by then!

U.S. Team: Darius Acuff Jr., Nate Ament, Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, Mikel Brown Jr., Chris Cenac Jr., AJ Dybantsa, Jalen Haralson, Jasper Johnson, Nikolas Khamenia, Malachi Moreno and Koa Peat
