The lack of comments on how Ty has played in scrimmages and if his shooting has improved is deafening (unless I missed it). Reading between the lines, I suspect we have a similar issue with shooting. I’m still ecstatic to have him and don’t think we need him to shoot from outside for him to be a very important cog in the starting line up. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised. Even if we heard that he was lights out in practice, game time is different. Alex Legion still haunts me…

He'll have to if he wants to stay on the floor. I thought he would have gotten better at it by the end of the year and even though he is just a freshman he has already played a lot of basketball.

Sorry if I missed someone asking, but I assume this isn’t real, is it?
Forgot to delete a tweet when they were cleaning up their timeline for this grift. Wanker account.

I think the Ivisic twins make all the difference here. It wasn’t that teams didn’t need to guard Ty, but rather that they could guard Ty with their 5 man and we didn’t have a way to punish them for it with a mismatch elsewhere.

Coleman and Guerrier were both about 6’8 or 6’9 and neither had any kind of post game to really speak of. So teams could put bigger wings on them and get away with it.

But a big wing won’t cut it against legit 7 footers. And the fact that they can both shoot means the lane can be open for Ty, either from the dunker spot or cuts, rolls and drives.

If you put your 5 man on Ty, that means you will have a wing on an Ivisic. Good luck with that. But if you guard Ty with a wing, with the paint open, that is very likely to be a favorable matchup for Ty.

Is he lying though? Trust me, I really want to Ty to shoot the lights out of the gym. But I didn't forget when we got absolutely club smacked by Purdue because Edey stayed in the paint and left Ty completely open constantly, needing Coleman the entire year to play the 4 and give us like 70% of what he was capable of.

Ty brings skills that were sadly in short supply during this recently concluded season, a relentless toughness, advanced rebounding skills, harassing defense, and leadership by voice and example. Assuming he worked on his moves under the basket and short jumper for a year, I am looking for him to be a great asset to the Illini next season and maybe even a candidate for B10 Sixth Man of the year award. Too optimistic? Maybe so, but I think he has it in him. I have to work on his nicknames though, so far I have:Ty Bo Boxer, Ty Kwan Doe, Tyranasauras Rex, Tysmanian Devil, Ty Goes to the Runner, and Fort Tyconderoga. Feel free to chip in with your choices.

The Ivisii need to develop their post games some this summer. It was a huge problem for us this past season that Tomi didn't punish 6'8" (or smaller) guys in the post. But I have faith in coach O.

Eh. Damonte Williams wasnt much of a shooter outside of one year and Morez wasn't a shooter this year.

College guys will make huge leaps all the time in one off-season. There is a legitimate chance that Ty is a very different player when he takes the court in November and we see him for the first time in 20ish months.
In Ty's case, it's one off-season, plus another entire regular full season on top of it!

I hope he shoots a tons of 3pt, 4pt and 5pt shots at Michigan. Live out your dream and you can be the next Steph Curry.
